I was looking for beer making supplies for my son in law, and thought it would be a trip over to
Grand Rapids. thank god for google, did a quick search before i hit the road and was pleasantly surprised to find Clay Ave. Cellars had beer making equipment on hand.
So i stopped by and found that the owner Bob to be an enthusiastic brewer let alone a great wine maker. We chatted for quite awhile, bought what i needed, saved gas and money, and i may try home brewing myself

I couldn't really score Clay Avenue Cellars because I have not had the pleasure to visit the store yet. I keep stopping by too early, however, I have had the opportunity to speak on the phone with Bob, the manager. What a delight he is! All my questions were answered. Bob shared ideas with me and had a great knowledge of brewing beer without the snobbish attitude some can get regarding a "newby".

I'm looking forward to stopping in tomorrow to meet Bob in person, check out the store and get my supplies for brewing. I'm quite sure if the store is any reflection on the great personality of the manager, I will find everything I need and then some!

Clay Avenue Cellars is first and foremost a winery. They specialize in fruit wines and they are very, very good. Bob, the manager, just started home brewing and offers a very small selection of home brew supplies on the second floor of the winery. If you're looking for a huge selection, this isn't it. He has kits and the equipment you would need to brew your first batch of beer (i.e. bucket, bottles, caps, capper, airlock, etc.). If you're looking for a quick place to pick up a kit, this is the place to go. His prices are usually cheaper than most too. Also try his wine while you're there.
