16 oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a clear copper, with 2+ rich and soapy fingers of slightly off-white head. This retains with a ½ finger of froth that leaves back a robust cascade of heavy spotty lace. The aroma smells grassy and spicy, with an earthy fruitiness that mingles with sweet bready grains to impart a strong ripe tanginess across the back of the nose.

The taste is similar, with a green hop bitterness that is cut by a backbone of sweet and sugary toasted grains and citric fruit. Those Noble hops finish this strong with a dry and earthy pithy bitterness that lingers long. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with more of a mellow sharpness going on with it. A touch of thick chewiness underneath seems to keep this from achieving a needed crispness in the mouth.

Their website indicates that this is done in the Vienna Lager style and would be inclined to agree, as this possessed that tangy mix of fruit and bread that I find so often in these beers. This was decent but not overly memorable.

Bottle poured into a New Glarus pint glass. Good appearance, poured a cloudy dark caramel ale color. Smelled very good, like a good blonde beer. Excellent taste, some hops, but understated. Great mouthfeel, super drinkable. I will be picking up more of this next time I am in Wisconsin.

Once again a thanks to woodychandler for yet another canned beer for me to try. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by malts. Taste also has considerable malts, grains, a touch of hops are present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing and good beer.

Re-branded as "Love Rock" in bottles.

Deep saturated orange gold, lasting head of creamy foam, spotty deckled lacing in the glass. Bright clarity and good head retention.

Toasted specialty grain aroma, lightly sweet and husky with a touch of apple there also from the yeast.

Slightly slick and sweet feel, robust toasted grain aroma, light residual sweetness. Medium to light bodied, lower carb levels reinforce the slick feel. Earthy, floral hop note.

Overall this is good for a no frills Vienna Lager, though nothing too groundbreaking. An acceptable poolside beverage.

12 oz bottle poured into a MKE tulip.
5.1% ABV, No date.

A - The vigorous pour only produces a short, dense white head that rests briefly on the goldenrod-orange colored beer. Love Rock is mostly clear, hazed only by very fine particles. Nice veils of lace coat the glass.

S - Classic German malt erupts from the nose with a biscuity Vienna and sweet, bready Munich blend followed by classic noble hoppiness; earthy, floral attributes with a suggestion of lime skin. Undertones of yeasty fruit esters are the only thing keeping this lager from a totally fantastic nose.

T - The tandem German malts from the nose merge with a smooth touch of pilsner sweetness that lingers nicely through the moderately firm noble hop finish of earthiness and floral notes.

M - Love Rock has a terrific feel of smoothness through it's medium-light body; soft on the tongue and moderately sweet from the blend of malts balanced on the finish by passive-aggressive noble hop bitterness.

O - Easily drinkable, Love Rock marries an every-day lager that's both simple at first glance and complex with deeper enjoyment. This German-style lager has wonderful maltiness underscored by the German noble hops for a smooth and satisfying brew!

Another CANQuest beer in support of New Beer Sunday!

From the CAN: "Who was the smoldering dame? Brewed using s choice selection of barley malts and imported hops, this Vienna Style lager has a taste as smooth as the Damsel's 40-foot swan dives. How to drink craft beer from a CAN: 1. Find glass; 2. Pour beer; 3. Enjoy! Put your face in the glass and sniff the goodness. It's the best way to indulge the flavor because half of taste is triggered by smell. Now you're a beer snob."

Following the Crack & Glug, the pour resulted in two rocky fingers' worth of ecru head that burbled and fell like a diver entertaining the turn of the 20th century crowds. Color was a medium-amber with NE-quality clarity. BUPGOO! Following their advice, I put my face in the glass and was rewarded with a wet nose. Confound this beak of mine! Regrouping, it was certainly malt forward, but underlain with the tang of Saaz hops. Mmm. Mouthfeel was somewhat thin but with a pleasant lager sweetness on the tongue. Finish continued to be malty sweet, which is OK for the style, but less to my liking. Not a bad beer, but not one that I would want a whole bunch of either.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Gotta love Paul Simon gettin' stuck in your head. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by over a finger of cream-white foam. The nose comprises flowers, very light biscuit, and even lighter (somehow) orange rind. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a mild sense of honey-like sweetness that pervades all aspects of life. The body is a light medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, an okay little amber lager, something I could see drinking fairly easily, but not something I would actually aim to drink all that often.

Not impressed. Bought this beer soon after moving to Wisconsin and trying all the wonderful craft brews available. Poured well enough into tall glass, took a sip... and then nothing. Tepid first couple of sips, followed by that taste of phenol that a lot of the commercial cheap lagers have over here. Very surprised to taste such a limp lager. Poured rest down sink. This beer tasted watered down, and much like a run of the mill, cheap commercial lager. For this beer, read: Miller, poured into a bottle with a fancy label to make it look appealing.

A-Pours a clear amber color with a decent amount of fluffy white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass.
S-Slightly sour/cider aroma.
T-Flavors of malt and noble hops. Slightly tart.
M-Good carbonation. Fairly sweet.
Overall, not an extremely exciting beer but very drinkable. A good full-bodied feel with good carbonation and pretty decent flavor just nothing that stands out as being particularly outstanding.
