Pours dark, almost black, with a 1.5 finger foamy tan head. Reduces slowly, leaves decent lacing and a bubbly film on top.

Smell is milk chocolate, some roast malts, a little coffee. Pretty standard, and pretty tame. Nothing special.

Taste is milk chocolate, a light tanginess that's pretty off-putting, maybe a little bit of roast? Very one dimensional, not very good.

Mouthfeel is okay. A little thin, but not bad.

Very average milk stout. Not really worth seeking out.

A rising crest of mocha foam sits on top and rises above the rim of the tulip glass momentarily. Sheets of lace form inside the glass in a thorny halo pattern.

Mellow milk chocolate and lightly roasted malts in the aroma.

Smooth light bodied feel, lower carbonation, mellow roastiness comes off a bit like toasted marshmallow and hershey syrup. A touch of char, mellow chocolate sweetness. A session beer for chocolate lovers if ever there was. Feels a little thin but it's smooth and creamy. Enjoyed this overall.

Bottle poured into an Imperial pint glass.

A - Really nice dense light brown head. Nearly completely opaque. Has some spotty lacing down the glass.

S - Rich and complex chocolate tones, too mellow to be described as coffee. Has really smooth roasty malts.

T - Has some of those great sugary residuals. Nice sweetness followed by mellow dark malts that don't infuse harsh bitterness. Has plenty of malt depth contributing grainy flavor from base malts to nutty crystal malts.

M -Medium to medium-light in body with a moderate amount of carbonation.

O - I enjoyed this brews sweetness in taste quite a bit. No real issues with this beer at all. I thought the mouthfeel and carbonation were style appropriate and the malts blended very well. My favorite Milwaukee brewing company beer so far.

12 oz. bottle poured into a CCB snifter.

Appearance - Dark brown, but not completely opaque with a quickly receding light brown head. Almost gone by the time I got to the table with it. Looks like a porter more than a stout.

Smell - Roasty, bits of chocolate. The smell isn't overwhelming. What I would expect from a weak stout.

Taste - The taste is immediately chocolate and coffee bitterness, giving way to... nothing. It has almost no back end flavor. Nothing gross or sickly, which I was a bit afraid of. Just nothing.

Mouthfeel - Very watery, not thick at all. High carbonation makes it feel like coffee made from club soda.

Overall - I feel like I panned it in the review, even though there was nothing offensive about it. It's easy to drink. I didn't find myself wanting to pour it out. Just didn't have much to it.

Dark mahogany brown with a quick rise- and fall- of gray-beige suds. Lacing is modest.
A whiff of roasted grain and some sweet lacto/brown sugar noses that congeal to approximate toffee and milk chocolate. The nose could use a boost in overall volume, but its nice enough.
The flavor profile is washed out to a point where I wondered if I had somehow mistakenly diluted by half with water. Touches of toasty/roasty grain. Some noted lacto/milk chocolate sweetness. A waft of smoke. And a bit of herbal bitterness. And a whole lotta wet emptiness.
The mouthfeel compounds matters with its waif, frail body and overabundance of carbonation. This is the absolutel opposite of how something like this should feel.
Mildly chocolately flavored water. Drinkable in that regard, I guess.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into St. Bernardus goblet. Purchased from Woodman's in Madison WI for $8.99/6 pack. No brew date. Drank while watching Back To The Future III on 02-21-2011.

Appearance: Appearance is dark brown/black with thin lacing and light brown/cream head. Head was very small and did not last long.

Smell: initial scent has some nice sweet malt to it...lactose. Limited roast to it, not much aroma there at all.

Taste: Very mild sweetness, was expecting more, and got more out of a tap sampling I had at the brewery in early December. Small roasted notes, not overly sweet.

Mouth: Alot of carbonation. Feels borderline fizzy.

Drink and Overall: It is drinkable, that's for sure. A nice session beer with decent overall flavor. A beer with flavor that I could drink numerous of.

A - Pours a deep ruby brown, almost cherry cola colored, with a nice rich tan head that disappears fairly quickly. Minimal lacing.

S - Malty, sweet, almost candy notes.

T - Really just ok. Tastes a lot like a basic stout. I like something a little creamier in this style. It's not a bad roast malt taste, but just not much else to it. Aftertaste is a little sour and clingy.

M - For a stout, it's pretty thin.

D - Not bad, but again, in a milk stout I prefer something a little smoother.

Milk stouts have been one of my favorite styles since I first had Mackeson Triple years ago. They've since taken Mackeson off the market and this style is becoming harder and harder to find. This isn't a horrible version, but there's nothing special about it. It's a decent beer with nothing remarakable going on.

Presented in a brown 12 oz. bottle without freshness dating. Label fails to inspire confidence by stating the Stout is brewed with "natural flavoring."

Pours a dark plum with a two-finger, khaki-colored head with good retention and formidable spiderweb lacing. Enticingly complex aromas of coffee, mocha and malted milk.

Thin bodied with minimal carbonation. Chocolate malts and a moderate hop bitterness balance the opening. Flavors of powdered cocoa and milk chocolate surface. Subtle hint of alcohol brings up the middle. Finishes with a bitter roasted note and some grassy expressions in the background.

Very drinkable, but I'm disappointed the taste profile didn't deliver what the nose initially promised.
