Picked this up on a recent trip across the border. My first beer from this little Wisconsin brewery, and it's my favorite style.

Pours an almost-clear golden-orange, with a head that erupts nearly out of the glass. A thick column of bubbles rising up from the base of the glass. Good retention, decent lacing. Quite nice.

Smell is earthy and spicy, with a light crisp hop presence on top. A bit of funky yeast with that earth, and a pleasant mix of everything I expect from a saison.

Taste is similar - very earthy, with touches of spice, and a difficult-to-describe light fruity flavor in the finish. Good complexity, with the various flavors playing off each other; I like it.

Mouthfeel is a problem. Light-bodied. But it's seriously overcarbonated, so that every sip brings an explosion in the mouth, and a series of burps if I don't let it sit in my mouth until the bubbles die down. I left it to sit for a while, and it's less overcarbonated. But even after half an hour on the counter, it's more carbonated than I want it to be.

A super earthy saison with some peppery spice. I'd like it a whole lot more if it weren't for that carbonation issue.

A - Looks like any typical yellow fizzy beer. Nothing special here.

S - Smells like... nothing. No barnyard funk normally associated with a saison. This beer is clearly an imposter. Shame!

T - Tastes like a lager. Wrong, wrong, totally wrong.

M - Thin, lifeless. Like having sex with a dead person.

D - I've had some lame ass saisons before, but this one takes the cake. I'd like to find the brewers of this beer and give them a huge wedgie.

SHAME ON YOU MILWAUKEE BREWING COMPANY. SHAME!

A. Lighter orange-ish gold with the barest of haze to it, enormous merengue of a foamy head that leaves massive lacing behind, very bubbly carbonation.

S. I have to agree with crossovert that there is an unique tone of light sour vinegar coloring the main aromas of spiced fresh hay and citric lemons.

T. Strangely, the soured scent does not translate through into the flavor. The taste is instead full of herbal and citrus accents on top of a gentle cracker sweetness with lemon zest on top. The relatively high ABV is difficult to detect in this one. I've had saisons more complex than this, but none that were as adept at covering up a high ABV as this.

M. Very spritzer-like carbonation, light crisp and pleasant body.

12 oz bottle.

It pours a nice gold with a large, foamy white head.

The smell is unique. It has a noticeable sourness to it with some vinegar, but also dominating characteristics of a saison yeast, it is big and spicy.

The taste is similar, spicy with a hint of tartness. for the abv it is pretty refreshing actually although the sweetness is there.

Not a bad beer, an experiment perhaps that turned out exceptionally well.

Lightly hazed orange-gold with a large, persistent, creamy-white head.

The aroma is citrusy! There's also some yeastiness and some sweetness. Pleasant but a little subdued.

The taste is again citrusy, but it's not overpowering. Some malty sweetness and plenty of yeasty spiciness. There's a light, summery feel here that's most enjoyable.

It's well carbonated but the carbonation is more the creamy sort than prickly. A little more viscous than I was expecting but not inordinately so.

Very pleasant overall. The mild tartness and bold yeastiness meld together very well. Definitely going to be drinking some more of this.

Found this while browsing my local Woodmans, was in the mood for something different and this caught my eye. First time trying anything from Milwaukee Brewing and I was very impressed.

Appearance - Poured a semi hazed gold, a rather fast pour into the glass left a nice 1-2 in thick head that lasted halfway through the beer.

Smell - A crisp peppery smell hits you first with some light lemon notes after the first smell. Didn't have a very strong hop smell, which was a nice change.

Taste - Clean, crisp, just the right amount of hops to balance the sweet malt. This beer is one of the best farmhouse ale's i've found to date.

Mouthfeel - goes down easy with just the right carbination level. I found myself in shock at how fast the first bottle went, the second and third went just as fast.

Overall - Great session beer for cookouts and ball games or as it was for my case a Fantasy Football Draft!

12 oz bottle poured into a Bruery tulip.
No date or info.

A - The lightly hazy, vibrant golden beer shines brightly despite the clouds in the sky. A dense white head of two-fingers lingers around for a while but this beer leaves no lace on the glass.

S - Upfront spicy notes immediately draw attention to the large yeast component going on here; white pepper, clay, earthy tones, and lemongrass to name a few. Sweet pilsner malt backing and crisp lemon citrus and earthy notes of hops pull through after. This one is balanced but strong with a pretty solid to-style aroma.

T - Sweet pilsner and faintly toasty malt provide a good base for the yeast characteristics to shine. Much like the aroma, the flavor is balanced but leans towards the earthy, spicy side a bit more. Nice lemon zest character.

M - Well-carbonated and lighter bodied, this saison has nicely balanced spice finish with good lingering flavor. Crisp and smooth!

O - A good saison right across the board, this brew is a nice addition to Milwaukee Brewing Co.'s bottle line-up. Fairly easy drinking and flavorful with a great finish.
