Thanks to Tom for this one!

Slightly hazed reddish copper color, plenty of lacing, drippy crown of thorns pattern around the rim of the glass. Tiny micro sediment is visible suspended in the glass.

Aroma is big on caramel and vanilla, fairly sweet but pretty good.

Body is pretty light, but big on flavor. Huge malt, sticky on the lips, vanilla, and light booze as it warms up. Eh, sort of falls apart as it warms up. Worth a try but not the best.
Edit 11/16: this apparently won a medal at FoBAB... Wonder if it was a new batch or special barrel or something.

Pours slightly hazed copper with a fluffy lasting head. Plenty of lacing sticks.

The smell is of bourbon/wood and caramel.

The taste is of strong bourbon, wood, booze. A vague fruitiness and toast balance some of the sweetness, though it remains sweet.

It has soft carbonation. The body is medium. A fuller body may cover the alcohol more. There is a certain amount of creaminess to it.

An amber ale with strong bourbon. A nice sipper of an amber ale blended with bourbon.

Shared by CaptainCougar at GT's going away tasting. Thanks Tom.

The beer is amber hued with a small, off white head. The aroma offers malt, vanilla, sweet fruits, alcohol. Fairly sweet with some butterscotch throughout. Bourbon character is mild. Pretty drinkable and certainly interesting. Worth a try.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic.
7.5% ABV, 30 IBUs, no date.

A - Poured in fully, the pint fills with tiny particles which haze the rusty colored beer. It's short, dense creamy head floats on the beer with staying power and leaves wispy lace all over the pint.

S - It's time in the barrels compounded with the nature of the beer creates a big vanilla aroma that smells like fresh vanilla custard. Subtle spicy bourbon hints develop around smooth malt, kettle caramelization, toffee, butterscotch, and faint earthy hop notes.

T - Smooth warming, sticky caramel malt meets Munich breadiness with subtle toffee and vanilla interaction. Dry oak and earthy hops lead into a new dimension that offer smooth bourbon alcohol notes.

M - Creamy and smooth, this malty amber features a medium body with complimentary dry, and faint bitterness that's further rounded out by soothing, warming bourbon alcohol.

O - Short aging in barrels gives Louie's Demise a special new twist of subtle warming alcohol and traces of bourbon with vanilla tannins which give the already sweet and smooth malty beer a creamy, dessert-like flavor. A nice offering from Milwaukee!

It's certainly a treat to get to try this one. I've heard great things but have never had the pleasure. Thanks, Andy (BeerFMAndy) for sending me a bottle of this!

Served in an Elysian snifter.

A: Poured a very dark, amber color, with a slight, sticky, white pepper-like head.

S: Butterscotch and coconut an then some. One would have to have a microscope to detect any sort of "American Amber/Red Ale" quality out of this.

T: Excellent flavor, even better than I expected even. Candy-like, not uber sweet, and not fake in any way.

M: Sticky and sweet, but not cloying. Low carbonation.

O: this is like an American Strong Ale redux. I dig it!

Beautiful red/copper color is it's only redeeming quality. It is truly beautiful to look at. Alcohol comes off like cough medicine. Looks like previous versions of this were 7.5%, this one is 10.2%. While I'm a big fan of bourbon barrel beers, this one is not one I would seek out.

a deep amber in color with a finger of white fluffy head. smells very malt forward, bready and vanilla notes.. very subtle bourbon smell.

the taste is mostly bourbon but very palateable. lots of vanilla notes mainly from the bourbon barrels, mixed in with a nice amber ale profile of malty sweetness. a slight citrus hop feel is present in the aftertaste.

medium in body, low carbonation. this is a wonderful tasting beer. it's like drinking a lightly carbonated very soft bourbon.
