A - It poured a pale hazy golden yellow.

S - Granny smith apples are front and center followed by the slightest bit of mustiness. However, the apple scent seemed artificial in some respects.

T - Tangy apple and sweet tarts (as another review noted) with a citrusy finish

M - Light bodied and tart

O - This was very enjoyable. I expected it to be too sweet, but it wasn't at all. Outside of the semi-artificial apple scent, this met my expecations going in.

Lindemans' Pomme Lambic.

A: Half a finger of head. Clear apple cider tone, with just a few tiny black flecks. Decent lacing.

S: Tart green apple, but with a touch of some dryer apple and some caramel notes. Very faint perfumey quality.

T: I had a customer tell me this tastes just like green apple jolly ranchers. While it does half a light jolly rancher-like sweetness, it doesn't remind me of that. I'd say it's more akin to apple pie filling, with a touch of added tartness. Slight backing dryness.

Not much to say on this one. I think I like berries and cherries better for tart beers, but this is a nice change of pace.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.

I really like Lindeman's Framboise (raspberry juice! great!) and have been curious about the apple for a while. So, the apple is good but not amazing. It's like fizzy apple juice--which is what I was hoping for--with a hint of beer taste, which makes it more interesting than apple juice. It tastes light and not too too sweet, and I would definitely have it again, but I would probably go to the raspberry first.

Poured from bottle into a chalice glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy medium amber color with a one finger of fizzy white head. The head fades over a moderate amount of time, leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is huge of a sour and tart green apple aroma mixed with some lighter bits of yeast. Some sweeter apple cider smells are there as well accompanied by a light grassy aroma. Overall the aroma is of a nice tart green apple cider smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a sweet apple cider flavor with a bit of sourness mixed within. The sourness is of a light lemon nature upfront with the flavor growing more tart in nature as the flavor advances due to some more intense green apple flavors coming to the tongue. A yeasty flavor develops initially after the taste begins, with it losing strength at the end of the taste. While the yeast fades and the tartness increases, a light hay flavor and a bit of a funk and vinegar all come to the tongue, mixing with the rest of the flavors to leave a nice sweet but still quite tart apple cider flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite light with a carbonation that is composed of tiny champagne like carbonation bubbles. Both the lighter body and higher level of tiny carbonation bubbles are fantastic for the sweet and tart apple flavors of the brew making this a very refreshing beer even in light of its tart and sour nature.

Overall – A sweeter and tasty apple Lambic that is a rather easy and pleasant drinker.

From the green, corked bottle marked L-C16LAP. Sampled on January 29, 2014.

I am never impressed when I have to use a corkscrew to open a beer but that's the way it is. The pour is hazy yellow with a quick lasting white head.

The aroma has a solid green apple character with buttery malts. It reminds me more of a cider than a beer. But I expect that is the point.

Light to medium body.

Loads of tart or sour green apples in the flavor with a smooth enough malty character hidden deep within. It is what it was meant to be.

Extremely fizzy, although the too-large head does fade well enough to allow more of a pour. Head is solid and flat white. Beer is transparent, albeit slightly cloudy, and the color of apple juice, appropriately enough.

Smell is of tart apple candy, across the room. It smells artificially flavored (although I'm sure it's natural). The apple is so overpowering that I can barely get a hint of yeast and wheat in the background.

The yeast comes through more prominently in the flavor, which thankfully is nowhere near as dominated by apple as the nose. Apple is certainly present, but you can tell it's a nice wild Lambic. Very light funk from the yeast balances against tart apple juice, with wheat giving it just a nice enough backbone.

Slightly syrupy for an overall medium body, with a nice lively feel, and a very slight puckering effect. Very drinkable.

I was not anticipating a good beer after the aroma, but this is really quite good. It's not as good as their Kriek or Gueze, but I haven't had any other Pomme Lambics to compare it against. I'm sure it's not the best in the style, but it's still very tasty. Recommended.
