Having never had Lambic before, I didn't know what to expect. It was described as "raspberry champagne". I definitely fell in love with Lindemans bottle label...if not the expensive import price.
However this did prove an enjoyable first experience for a person who doesn't really love beer, but just wanted a tasty drink at an acoustic open mid.
The appearance was pretty. A clear deep burgundy brown, with pinkish dense foam head, which although quickly disipated, kept its curvature and tracings to the side of my glass.
There was definitely a natural fruity fermented aroma. Not hoppy like beer, nor bubbly like champagne. But definitely not a fruit juice.
It tasted luscious. Full and sweet, lightly sour or tangy and fermented with tiny bubbles, a bit creamy with the foam, very much a fruit drink yet much richer than champagne wine or merely berry-flavored beer. (Such as Blue Dawg Blueberry Lager or Pyramid Apricot Ale.) A truly authentic character worth savoring.
Very drinkable as a session refreshment. although perhaps best with dessert and not a regular meal. It's not what you'd call 'thirst-quenching', but it is a drink worth sipping and savoring.
