Fermented cherry juice. A hint of Belgian yeast in the nose besides the obvious cherry (the nose was the highlight). And it also tastes like cherry juice with just a touch of the lambic sour. I'm pretty sure I could get straight cherry juice for much cheaper and it would taste 90% the same — 99% if i let it sit out a few days. Maybe I'm missing something, but I was not impressed.

750 ml bottle, no bottled on date present. Finally getting around to trying this one from Lindemans. 'Belgian Cherry Beer' per the label. No abv listed on the bottle, but I believe it is 2.50% abv and not 4.00% abv as listed here.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a deep dark ruby body with two to three fingers of fluffy pink tinted white head. Moderate fat scattered lacing.

S - A sweet and lightly tart, authentic cherry juice aroma. The wild yeast funk is definitely distinct and noticeable as well.

T - A perfectly sweet, sugary, and lightly tart authentic juicy cherry flavor. Dangerously drinkable stuff.

M - Crisp & tart. Ridiculously easy-drinking, with nice carb. Refreshing.

Overall, an excellent, refreshing, affordable, and approachable lambic from Lindemans. Definitely one of the better lambics I've had from them, one I would definitely considering buying again and again.

Lambic beer flavored with cherries. Too sweet for my taste. I tested the barrel version is much better than this. More acidic lambic the more powerful. A beer with more route can leave you satisfied

I really enjoyed the raspberry lambi (framboise) that I had the other night so I figured I would give this a shot. Was not as good in my opinion. Still enjoyed it though

Style: Lambic

Glassware: Tulip

Appearance: Dark cherry (duh!) with a medium thick pink head. Very effervescent and inviting. The body is translucent with no sediments.

Smell: Oh, yes. Cherries! Very much like a fully blossomed cherry tree in spring.

Taste: Very cherry. Nice balance between sweet & sour. It does bring back memories of "Malt Duck" (if you went to high school in late 70s and early 80s, you probably know what I am referring to). Thankfully, it's much more refined than that, though.

Mouth feel: You do feel the effervescence on the tip of your tongue. Light and crisp body.

Overall: For me, a nice introduction to the Lambic style. No real "kick", but a nice relaxing and refreshing beer. Probably at its best in summer.

Pours a beautiful, dark red color, with a bubbly, pinkish head.

Smells of sweetened, marmelade cherries, with no hints of funk or tartness at all.

Has a refreshing, light-bodied taste to it, which begins sparkling and finishes a bit more smooth.

Tastes of ripe sour cherries, revealing an acidic, refreshing component, while staying very sweet overall. Marmelade overrules the citraic tartness, resulting in a ripe cherry taste, with not too much depth to it. The carbonation adds a slightly metallic aspect to the beer, which is throughout easy drinkable.

A bit too one-dimensional for what I am expecting in a kriek lambic. The sourness is not prominent enough, hindering any subtle notes to unfold, leading to a rich, but too sweet cherry taste, with nothing else going on.

Pours a clear beautiful dark ruby. Outstanding head volume, lacing and retention.

Rich nose of sweet cherry, slanted to black cherries. Underneath is a lively tart note.

Almost medium bodied with a smooth texture that has creamy aspects. Above normal carbonation with effervescence from the middle on. The carbonation is tight, prickly and lively...a masterpiece.

The flavor profile is World Class. It is intense in cherry flavor, somewhat complex and perfectly balanced with both sweet, sour and tart elements. It begins with a burst of sweet cherry over a rich malt background that is biscuit in nature. In the middle, a rich tartness effervesces. As the sweetness fades, a subtle sour undertone emerges. The finish is a slow fade of tart black cherry over a subtle sweetness and just a hint of sourness.

37.5cl bottle. 08 Sep 2016. I was trying to think of how I would describe the colour and the obvious answer is that it's cherry coloured. Tall, frothy pink head which lasted well and left some lovely Brussels lace. Powerful aroma of black and sour cherries. Reminds me of a cherry starburst. Medium sweetness and a pleasant tartness. Medium-full bodied, smooth, spritzy, sticky and a lip-smacking tart finish. Delicious. 9.

I'm just starting to get into "sours" and this was recommended by my beer mentor.

A - Dark cherry red color, like a black cherry soda. Big fluffy pink head with strong, filmy lacing. Definitely more soda like and less beer looking.

S - Dark cherries. The sweet dark cherries just overtake all the aroma. After drinking there is a faint malt and faint sourness but overall just cherries which is a very nice smell but strange for a beer.

T - Pretty soft on the palate with the sweet dark cherries accompanied by a mild sourness in the middle. It's as thought eating an under-ripened cherry with a sweet initial and then a tartness to help balance. There is also some light malt character and an acidity from the carbonation to make this very light and refreshing much like a soda with more balance and less sugar.

M - Very light mouth-feel. High carbonation. Light body and high carbonation make this a refreshing beverage. It is soft on the palate which makes it seem more complex but still very light in body.

Overall, this is the first actual "Kriek" I've had and I was surprised by how much actual cherry flavor was stashed into this green bottle. The sourness was very mild and the cherry sweetness was the forward taste so for anyone afraid of lambics or sours this is indeed a good starter sour. I probably wouldn't get this again since $6 for a 12oz "cherry soda" is pretty steep; I'll stick with my IPAs and stouts for now. If you like cherry wine but want something with less body and more refreshing I would also recommend this.

Barely resembles a beer style but still wonderful in its own right. Super tart & light bodied sweet lambic. The aromas & flavors contribute to a higher rating than it probable should get.

This is pretty much like drinking tart cherry juice. Not bad, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for this. Sugar, cherry and a touch of tartness.

The initial aroma is reminiscent of a traditional belgian beer style with a cherry undertone. The flavor is sweet without being syrupy, with a slight fruity tartness. The color is a deep, clear red, similar to nice red wine. The head is light, but lasts the duration of the glass.
This would pair well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a hot day.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/17/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy pink head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sweet/tart black cherry, cherry skin, candi sugar, straw, grass, light pepper, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with balanced authentic cherries, candi sugar sweetness, and light earthy yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big sweet/tart black cherry, cherry skin, candi sugar, straw, grass, light pepper, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of sweet/tart black cherry, cherry skin, candi sugar, straw, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness and balance of authentic cherries, candi sugar sweetness, and light earthy yeast flavors; with a great sweetness/tartness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly syrupy, and slightly acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4%. Overall this is an excellent sweetened fruit Lambic style. All around great robustness and balance of authentic cherry, candi sugar sweetness, and light earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth and refreshing to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Think dark red pour. Looks kind of like a carbonated red wine. Aroma is all cherry. Lots of tart cherry flavor. Slightly musty aroma and taste. Very good.

Nice beer if you like cherries. It's like drinking a juice. Very tastefull and sweetened.

A-red color with a white pink head and some lacing

S-sweet cherries, hint of sour and malt

T-sweet cherries, little tartness, hint of malt

F-medium body with light to moderate carbonation, smooth

O-nice flavor, but too sweet for me to drink much of this, prefer a more tart, sour lambic

Dark purple color. Pink frothy head.

Black cherries, syrup, some tartness.

Lots of black cherries up front, sweet, a little sour, I taste a little raspberry in the background. Finish is tart, yeasty, dry. Body is a little syrupy, sticky, dry.

I'm not a big fan of fruit beers, but this one is very good.
