Appearance: Probably one of the few feats of this beer. It pours a beautiful ruby brew with a pink-hued head. Ironically, very close to what you'd get from a Tango (Part beer, part red currant syrup brew). Medium to medium high effervescence. Decent lacing and little head retention.
Aroma: Medium high in intensity. Strong notes of barnyard and leather clash with the fruitiness lent by the Cassis. I'm happy this isn't just Cassis thoroughout, but the result isn't harmonious at all in my opinion.
Taste: Very intense Cassis profile. The barnyard notes play the nuances even if not much else is happening.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Medium low carbonation. Nice equilibrium achieved on the sweetness vs acidity vs tartness. Short lingering finish of berry and leather flavours.
Overall: These types of Lambics always scream 'gimmick' but this one was actually pretty decent. It wasn't as sweet as i thought it would be and the flavour didn't come off as artificial as many other more commercial (and again gimmicky) Lambics. I also liked how the beer wasn't just 100% fruit bombing me and had some interesting nuances. Still, having said all that, in my opinion A LOT more can be done with this style and, heck, even with Cassis Lambics specifically.
