Served from bottle into a Drie Fonteinen ‘3 Fountains’ Gueuze glass. Poured a hazy golden yellow-orange with a two finger white head that subsided to one finger very slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, sour, tart, fruit, funk, and lemon rine. The flavor was of sweet malt, lemon rine, lemon zest, citrus, sour, tart, earth, and funk. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. The flavor and aroma on this one were really well balanced and intense. This made the brew really easy to drink and rather enjoyable for myself. Crushed the 750 mL without any problem. Could probably have drank a bit more, but I’m not a TOTAL lush. Get your palate on this Gueuze lovers… You won’t regret it.

poured from a 355ml bottle into a ommegang glass

A- Pours a rich golden yellow. Upon uncorking the bottle foam immediately juddet out so this is a clearly well carbonated beer. Has a very fat 2 finger foamy fizzy white head. Reasonably clear yet still murky with a good amount of carbonation bubbles.

S- Very sour smelling. Strong hints of green apple and pear. Some overly sour citrusy lemon notes as well. Some yeasty eastheryness is also present. Slightly sweet smelling with some hints of raspberry. Smells very much like a good white wine. Notes of sour grapes are definitely present.

T- Very powerful tasting. Very sour with notes of grapes and sour fruit such as lemon and apples. Slight maltiness is barely detectable tasting slightly of grains. Ends on a nice sour almost puckering finish. End's with a sour taste very similar to grapefruit juice.

M- medium feeling with very strong carbonation. very crisp.

O- Very interesting. It is good. Very nice and sour, the style just isn't quite my thing. Has a very classy feel to it. I would definitely like to have this with a nice hearty meal. Probably wouldn't buy again otherwise though.

Warm weather - I feel like a sour. Bottled 3 Feb 2012. 355 ml bottle, corked and capped.

Pours pale golden straw yellow, hazy, but clear enough to see the tower of bubbles rushing up through the center. One and a half finger head, white and fizzy, dropped off fast and left little lacing.

Smells clean, crisp, fruity, and lightly sour, all underlain by earthy funk. Has a nice blend of sweet fruity flavors, like light cherries, and soft lemony sour. Almost like those sour lemon candies.

Pretty tasty. Pleasantly, rather than blisteringly, sour. Much less of the fruity sweetness that I detected in the smell, and much more of the acidic citrus sour. Fades to bitter in the end, and I wish it didn't. Pretty good, but lacking depth. Just when I start to really like it, the flavor falls off, where on a top-level gueuze it would power through with more deliciousness.

Mouthfeel is where this beer excels. Light and highly carbonated, but perfectly in line with the rest of the beer. Finishes quite dry.

This beer is up and down, but boy am I happy I poured it. Incredibly refreshing, and just what I was looking for this evening. Thank you Lindeman's for making a good, inexpensive gueuze! I will be drinking it again - there isn't another widely available value like this in the world of lambics.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from bottle into some sort of glass (didn't write it down apparently).

A: Pours clear & golden with much active carbonation visible. Medium white head.

S: Wonderfully sweet/sour aroma with an overtone of funk.

T: Fruity, funky, sour goodness. Dry finish but not overdone.

M: Pleasantly mouth-puckering all the way through - you know you're drinking a gueuze.

O: I miss the more fruity finish of a kriek (personal preference) but this is very good.

Pronounced either as GOO-zah, sometimes as gur-ze. Anyway you say it, Gueuze is a blend fo two or more lambics of different ages, usually a blend of one, two, and three year old varieties.

Lindeman's Cuveee Rene (Grand Cru), pours a cloudy, hazy gold with a pillowy, white one-inch head that provides plenty of lace. Sweet and funky aromas burst from the glass, with suggestions of green apples, lactic acid, wood, and horse-blanket (Brettanomyces). The brew begins mellow and sweet, slowly building to the funk and mouth puckering tartness only found in a Gueuze. Flavors included green apple, pear, grapefruit, earthiness, mustiness, barnyard funk, and some lactic-sourness. Amazingly subtle and complex, this highly carbonated brew also had a medium-light body. We are going to cellar a few to see how well it ages. A GREAT beer, and a good entry level sour beer as well!

Pours a light burnt orange color with a decent cap of fizzy white head. It smells like a gueuze (which makes sense I guess). A tart lactic aroma up front with a light brett funk behind it, definitely in the wet hay spectrum of aromas. The taste was good, not terribly complex but interesting enough to keep me coming back for more. The mouthfeel was very nice, a medium high level of carbonation and very dry body make this extremely drinkable. Overall, a very solid everyday gueuze, readily available though not as complex as some of the other offerings out there.
