says it's bottled August 13th 2012. Not really sure what this could mean. I guess it's best by that date?

appearance - orange with a little haze. White frothy head.

smell - earthy, funky, tart, bretty. Citrus

taste - green apple and citrus like lemon rinds dominate the flavor. A bit sweet malt in the middle balanced with some oak, not as acidic as expected and actually finishes mouth watering.

mouthfeel - thin mouthfeel with low carbonation. Could use a few extra months in the bottle as is suggested by the bottle itself.

overall - I love the apple and citrus notes. I bought this at my local liquor store and it was only $7.99. I think that this is an amazing value for this beer. It's balanced, and tart, and mouthwateringly delicious. I'm probably going to pick up a bunch more of this. Great entry level sour.

Picked up a bottle of this at Austin Liquors roughly 2 years

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a crystal clear golden light amber hue atop which was a nice two finger off white head that faded to leave a big, fat almost one finger blanket!

S - Very nice citrus (lemon), apples, and some light oak.

T - Lots of green apple and bright lemon sour/tartness. A nice funky barnyard with a rather sharp funky almost metallic finish.

M - Mouthfeel is very light and bubbly. Perfect amount of carbonation. Nice sour finish.

O - Overall this is a very enjoyable and easily accessabe gueuze. Lots of really solid aspects too his gueuze. Very nice.

Clear gold with a billowy white head. Good retention.

Slightly nutty, earthy aromas, with a touch of lemon peel. Not much in the way of barnyard, more forest floor sort of earthy.

Tart, lemony, a bit of earth. Malt is present, but very very subtle. Some astringency.

Light-bodied and effervercent, as it should be.

Definitely not the greatest gueuze out there, but a good introduction to the style, and the most affordable by far.

12oz bottle that says that it was bottled 23 Nov 2012? I'm guessing they meant this to be the best by date? At any rate, I'm glad they attempted to date this one.

Poured a hazy orange-yellow color with one finger of off-white head. Retention is OK, but the lacing eventually falls back into the beer.

The aroma boast hints of rice vinegar, sour cherries, white grape juice, and sake.

Taste: Bubbly and carbonated up front. A pleasant sourness coats the palate immediately after. I get a bit of vinegar like taste near the middle. Sour flavor is concentrated more on the roof of the mouth. It actually finishes pretty smooth considering.

Medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

A nice beer overall.

Morey's Bottom Line: I've had a couple of other Sours, but truth be told, this is my first Gueuze. It's definitely unique, and I'd like to try other within this style. This was recommended as a good starting point, and I agree.

A: Slightly murky light amber red color.
S: fruity, apple smell. hints of cranberries. subtle oak
T: Much like the smell. Apple, cranberrie, oak. Lots of subtleties that play out here.
M: Light and perfect amount of bubbles. Sour finished becomes a little much after a few sips.

Overall a great beer. So many subtle flavors I could talk about it for a good while. Goes down smooth. Very unique and impressive.
