Took the lady out on a date night to a place I've been meaning to go to for a while. The Pub is a British themed beer restaurant with lots of TVs and British memorabilia covering the walls. The food was really good (I had a killer cheeseburger on an english muffin with fried egg) and the drink selection was fairly large. There were 25 or so specialty beers on tap as well as several more in bottles. I had the Fuller's ESB and Dogfish Head 60min. Both of the beers were great. There was also a lengthy selection of wine, mixed drinks, and hard liquor available (not for me though, I like beer). Service was quick and helpful and the bill wasn't too pricey.

Vibe: This place is located in a shopping center that is set up to look like a small village and is in a standalone building with windows on three sides. There are high ceilings and a lot of wood paneling to make it feel like you are in a British pub.

Quality: Beers were served at the proper temperature using pint glasses.

Service: I sat at the bar in the early afternoon so service was quick. The bartender seemed friendly and was having a conversation with a person sitting near me.

Selection: The place had about 20 beers on tap, most of which where from England, Ireland and Scotland. They also had three rotating taps for seasonal, local, and craft beers. Beers were available in 20 oz. and 14 oz. pours.

Value: Prices seemed reasonable compared to other places in the area.

So first time here and I'm generally impressed with the beer selection, but I'm going to need to go a few more times to really see how good the place is.

Atmosphere: Very open for a pub - tall ceilings with all the tables and booths at the edges of the building with an impressive bar in the middle. Noisy place and very crowded, which is a good sign, but an intimate and cozy UK public house it isn't. The place due to its high crowd showed a bit of wear and tear on the tables and chairs.

Quality: Good quality English, Scottish, and Irish beers here with a heavy helping of English beers. The US craft choices are all high quality as well. Some extreme US craft options here in bottle form as well, but again, all good stuff. I had the Fuller's London Pride on tap and next time will need to see what the cask selection is. I'd say just about all the beers in the lineup were B or better beers in the BA ratings, but I'd have to double check this.

Service: Waitress was attentive and offered plenty of options in the food department. I knew what I wanted so I didn't need to ask a lot of questions in the beer dept., but she was only so helpful in beer selection, but still, she had at least tried most of the ones my friend asked about and while I didn't agree with her assessment of flavors, she still at least could comment about what they were.

Selection: Very impressive selection here if you're into UK beers. Scottish beer selection is limited though. US craft selection is definitely good.

Food: I had the English pot roast, which I thought was pretty tasty, but I like meat and potato dishes so I think I'll be in heaven here. Not a "wow!" dish, but good.

So overall I view the place as a solidly good place and I'll be back again.

Faux-British pub chain actually does well in the atmosphere department (though the bartenders in kilts was a bit much). They even had rugby playing on the big screens with baseball resigned to the smaller TVs. Cool.

Their beers are offered in British pints (20 oz) at cellar temperature (for the cask, anyway). Only $5.25 per pint, which is a great price considering the area it's located.

DFH 60 min, Fullers London Pride & ESB, Old Speckled Hen, Breckenridge Vanilla porter, were a few of the many tap offerings here.

I'm a British beer fan, so I felt perfectly at home. Extreme beer lovers may want to look elsewhere...

With places like South Park Tavern and One Eyed Jacks the Dayton beer landscape has changed a lot in just the last two years. When this place first opened up Guinness was an exotic beer in Dayton. Having said that, unless you're a fan of beers from the UK there's not much special about The Pub.

"Classic Pub service" is a phrase I've coined after sitting at the bar for minutes waiting to get a bartenders attention. Sitting at a table occasionally results in better service.

As far as food goes I've never had a bad thing here.

I think most people go to The Pub for the atmosphere and its location is nice to get a few beers in while the wife is shopping.

Despite all the bashing I just did I have an affinity for this place. The Sunday morning bartender remembered me and the wife despite not seeing us for three months. The Fuller's London Pride is awesome.
