Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before quenching the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in India. Our IPA is true to this style, it’s bracing, bitter and higher in alcohol (6.5% ABVl) and made with the trademark Propeller quality. It’s full-bodied ale for full throttle beer lovers!

One of the best IPAs in Nova Scotia. I have been drinking it for years and it has a nice kick in the typical IPA fashion. One of the first micro brew IPA that I found in NS.

Amber under a moderate head that settles to a short cap. Lots of wonderfully messy lace on the way down. Surprisingly malty nose and taste for an IPA. Quite sweet on the palate from malts, fuller mouthfeel. Resiny hops, some pine, noticeable alcohol, slightly bitter and long lingering finish. Comes across as being generally too sweet to me, doesn't really work as an IPA.

Had this solid IPA from a Canadian standard 473 ml tall boy can. It was reasonably hoppy with a pleasing bitter taste. There are better IPAs, but you can do a lot worse too.

Pours a deep clear gold, with about two fingers of head. Head is quick to break leaving not a lot behind. Minimal lacing.

Smell is malt driven, with caramel and bready malts. Then comes a bit of fruitiness and finally the hops.

Taste is quite different from the nose. The malts are still there, but they play second fiddle to the piney bite of the hops. The malts provide a sweet kick at the tail, which makes for an interesting sip.

Feel is medium at best, with decent carbonation. Finish is nice and bitter, but the sweet leaves a lageresque aftertaste which is not nice.

An alright beer, but nothing extraordinary. I'm not sure why so many martime brewers insist on using Ringwood yeast though. It doesn't seem to fit the style of American IPA. Perhaps this would be better categorized a British IPA.

On tap at Locas Billiards in Halifax, NS. I was playing pool at the time and wasn't paying strict attention to the beer, but it wasn't bad. Clear amber, very little head, pine and a little citrus, significant amount of caramel malts. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. ABV was well disguised but definitely there, judging from my play. Finish is bitter and dry. All in all, a quite serviceable IPA.

Hazy gold with a smallish head. Light citrus and malt nose. Smooth medium malt body with just the right hoppiness. Finish on the crisper side. More EIPA than AIPA.

Copper amber and cloudy, with no carbonation and 7 fingers of orange tinged head.

Smells fruity, of peaches, nectarines, stone fruit, caramel, and a hint of evergreen.

Fruity, piney, again the stone fruits come in with a light sweetness, followed by caramel, a hint of orange, and a big, lingering bitterness on the tongue. Memories of Fat Tug.

Medium, syrupy body with a little carbonation.

Got this a long voyage ago at the LCBO in December, drinking January 23rd, 2018. Well done brew.

Clear deep golden color with frothy off-white head. Aroma is grainy with some generic earthy hops. Taste is bitter, earthy and resiny, light to medium bitterness on the finish. Medium to light body with medium carbonation. Plain, simple, quite basic IPA.

Pours a nice dark gold colour with a nice fluffy head. Bitter and hoppy on the smell. The taste is also bitter and hoppy but slightly sweet as well. Quite a nice IPA.
