Alright, so Scott Tilford's a good guy & all but does he deserve his own beer? Absolutely! As winner of the 2010 Ultimate Brew-Off, Scott & Daniel scaled-up & brewed his tasty Belgian Witbier for all to enjoy. A refreshing, elegant and crisp Belgian-inspired wheat ale. Cheers!

Pours a pale, straw color with two fingers of head. Starts out clear, but begins to haze after a minute. Plenty of visible carbonation in the glass. Head quickly evaporates. Little lacing left on the glass.

Slight scent of banana and coriander.

Some nice notes of banana and coriander which is quickly washed out by some bitterness. Crisp finish. A bit on the high side for carbonation. Bitterness lingers for a bit.

I recall tasting the original last year on the judging night. The final bottled product has scaled up better than previous years, but is still a bit lacking. On tap it was a much better product than in the bottle.

Pours a brassy and clear golden colour with an almost overwhelming white head. I was actually worried that the bottle was infected until I tasted it, but it just has a very high carbonation level.

Mild aroma of Belgian yeast with an underlying malt breadiness, even a hint of caramel. The flavour starts dry before the sweet malted and biscuity body. More fruit esters than I’d expected. The finish is also sweet, but with a bitter backbone that leaves the longest aftertaste. Although Belgian yeast & typical spices are definitely present, it isn’t overwhelming.

Not a style I choose often, and not certain how "typical" this is, but a pleasant enough, easy-drinking beer that could hopefully appeal to a wide range of palates.

Beer details: OG: 12.3P, 12 IBU, Colour 4L

A: 2" head, medium to high carbonation, straw/gold colour. Haze is very low for a wheat beer. Head has high retention but lacing is none to low.

S: Bread, wheat, coriander, hint of orange and banana. Bitterness on the nose

T: Good sweetness on the palate but not malty. Taste the wheat and coriander with a hint of apple in the finish.

M Carbonation is lighter in the mouth then it looks in the glass. There is a nice balance of bitterness with a dry finish. Poured it from the fridge but the beer was amazing after being in the glass after 30 min. Warmer brought out more flavours.

O: A great Belgian style wheat beer. Very rounded and pleasant to drink.

A random I found at a downtown NSLC... The last of the bunch!

A - Pours a hazy pale golden colour, two fingers of head with solid retention and some sporadic lacing.

S - Nice bananas and cloves, hints of coriander and bready grains on the finish.

T - The flavour is a bit mild and metallic, but the cloves and bananas come through alongside the bready wheat. Surprisingly mild and could use a bit of a boost in this department.

M -Medium bodied, a tad prickly and wet.

O - Overall a tasty brew that is a bit mild on the flavour side, yet still quite sessionable. Glad I was able to find a bottle, though a tad mild as compared to some of their other offerings.

A 500ml bottle poured into a Nonic. A murky pour that has a color resemblance of apple cider. A white head sank fast but thinly stuck around. A lot of coriander on the nose. Overly carbonated and taste is sharp, stings the tongue a bit. Mouthful, it is quick to dissolve and is somewhat moist. Overall, not the best wheat beer I have had. Glad I tried but probably wouldn't buy again.

A: Pours a typical hazy straw yellow body with 3 fingers of fluffy white head. Retention is poor, but leaves some splotchy lacing.

S: Large notes of earthy hops, some coriander. Can't quite pick out anything else.

T: Bland taste of hops and banana. It's hard to pick out much else b/c of the carbonation and bitterness.

M: Light bodied with high carbonation. The carbonation is so high I have a hard time tasting the beer. The after taste is quite hoppy & bitter

O: Again, I'm not impressed with this competition. The brew lacked the style and over all enjoyability of a witbier.
