A very good selection of bottled beer ready to go with most available cold. Good prices on these. In brewery atmosphere. Excellent service. I had three beers here and took two to go: all were good or better, with one (Sugar Maple) just outstanding. Soe beers only available at the brewery including some only on tap and some only bottled (e.g., the Baltic Porter).

Garrison is relative veteran of the Nova Scotia beer scene. They are nicely located in a very historic part of Halifax and offer a good selection of beers on tap and in the fridge for takeaway. Not the best spot for quality beer in the city, but a place most tourists will wander by in their travels.

Big open space, old train station style, with a small exterior terrace. Dogs are allowed! Selection of around 10 taps + some bottles and growlers. Service is okay, quality is pretty good but nothing amazing else probably the double IPA.

Good location because of the high volume of foot traffic. Not a neighborhood feel, more industrial. Very good cooler of beer to go selection as well as growler fills. They had a great sour as well as a nice rasberry wheat.

Stepped off the cruise ship and this place was literally right across the street. I wasn't expecting much, in terms of quality craft beer, but I stopped in anyways. They only serve half pint tasters. They have a large cooler with bottles for sale, but you can not buy them to drink on the premises. There were a few lurkers at the small bar, but they weren't busy, but it took a while to get the attention of a tender to get a pour. The IPA I ordered was poor, so I drank that and left.
The oddest thing about this brewery is the amount of merchandise they were selling. It was absurd, the most merchandise I have ever seen at a brewery... by far.
Someone needs to tell them to focus more on the quality of their beer, and less on the amount of merchandise they can brand. Unless, of course, they are content with being a novelty brewery for cruise goers.

Was waiting to do a tasting and there was one other person there already doing a tasting. Nobody else really there, nobody said a word to me for about 5 minutes when I was standing by the bar waiting to taste so I left. Wanted to try some good Canadian craft beer but couldn't because nobody would help or even say a word to me.

An interesting but small place. Location is excellent - right on the water. It is just a tasting room with only $2 12 oz pours available. The selection was a bit weak in my opinion and is more catered to the average tourist than to craft beer enthusiasts. The most interesting beer on tap was their IPA and everything else was fairly run-of-the-mill.

They sell bottles to go as well as growlers. The bottle selection was much more interesting than the taps, with the baltic porter, imperial IPA, stout and others available that were not flowing from the taps. The service was excellent; extremely friendly and knowledgeable about craft beer in general.

Worth a visit if nearby, but I would not suggest going out of your way to stop by.

Stopped in for an hour or two in late August 2012 while my wife was in a nearby museum. Tried 2 of the 6 beers on tap; a red of theirs and their IPA (a pretty good one). The red was ok, but I wound-up having 5 of the 5 or 6 ounce IPAs; I finally found a good one in this area of Canada so I decided to wear it out! I would have tried their barleywine and oaked barleywine, but they're only seasonal beers. Oh well...

The staff was great, it was clean and in a nice location with seating ouside and in and well worth the trip if you happen to be in Halifax.

From our cruise ship, they're located right at the cruise dockside. A good size plant with a small bar and store area (no food, few seats). No free-tastings, but a good glass for the price (5oz @ $2). The server is extremely knowledgeable about brewing in general and his beers in particular. Good with a sudden crowd.

Their assortment is diverse and there are plenty of different beers available to try. I thought they were good enough that I brought a couple back to the ship to bring home and I'd be sure to stop in again when in the area.

I love Garrison and think they are making some of the best beer in Canada. It is at the top of my list whenever I visit Nova Scotia and bottles of their latest creations are always on my list of things for visitors to bring. A great variety of beer, some using locally grown hops. The seasonals are unique, like the spruce beer that was offered last year. There are also some greater higher alcohol beer like old fog burner that also might be a seasonal. They're making their way into Ontario's LCBO, so more Canadians get a chance to enjoy their beer.
