Shared with my wife last night.

Poured from a half Bordeaux bottle (375ml.).

Appearance: Pours a liquid gold body with, of course, no head. A tiny bit of bubbles on the surface but beneath, i see tiny micro bubbles standing still. Looks, ironically, like honey.

Smell: Very strong and floral aroma of clover honey. Some vanilla also in there. Sweet smelling and pleasant.

Taste: I'm getting more vanilla & honey. I didn't believe the label until i tasted it but there is a chocolate presence in the flavor. A little on the sweet side but i like it. The taste is authentic and very natural.

Mouthfeel: A warm feeling in the palate. Though it does have a bit of alcohol heat, it feels quite light actually.

Drinkability: This small bottle was too much for both of us as we just had a little more than half of it. Though it drinks very easily, it IS a aperatif/digestif and as such, this is a sipper.

Overall: I have no personal reference for this style as i've never had it before but i thoroughly enjoyed this beer. A bit like Utopias in the sense that this is not your traditional beer. The cost though (22$) will prevent me from buying this on a regular basis but for special occasions, it fits the bill.

Kept seeing this in various beer stores but didn't even think this was beer.

Decided to try it out to see if it would be a good idea to bring some over for holiday dinner chez the relatives.

Poured, by the fire, into a wine glass. How lovely.

A- No head here. Heterogenous mix of A copper liquid and miniscule white/grey particles. All the tiny floaties are basically in suspension as if they were set in Jell-O. Copper color is gorgeous and floaties not as much but it's still very presentable. Thick leg.

S- A bit like a concentrated cider but with a lot less apple smell... Strange i know but i find it makes sense. It's like it's got some of the sourness and bite of a strong cider without the floral qualities or freshness which apples usually bring. Alcohol doesn't come through very strong (considering A.B.V) even at room temperature. I'm getting some hops and it kind of smells concentrated like when I reduce a beer or deglaze with it while cooking. Caramel.

T- Really not as hot as expected from the product description. I think this is a lot closer to mead than beer. Tiny bit of biterness to remind you there's beer in here.

m- A thin, light syrup with no carbonation. Not dry at all.

D- A lot better than i thought it would be. Just had half the bottle while my girlfriend prepares dinner and am pouring one last glass to dial in my ratings. Alcohol does nothing to hinder
drinkability.

Well id say it's a nice product. The kind you can bring over to dinner but not a "you've got to try this!" product. So I'm not sure I'll buy another for new years at the relatives'. Maybe the Acero will have what it takes.

edit: I put a drop of this in a fresh oyster (I sometimes put a drop of wine). It was a terrible idea. Brought out the worst in both.

Bottle from the brewery, served in a small Acero glass. Honeyish colour, no head,no carbonation. Attractive honey aromas, it smells like a braggot. Both honey and licorice are very sweet, and expected it to be more sweet than it was. There was the element of licorice spice. Not very drinkable, but I agree it goes with food, crackers helped. Odd bitterness, not tremendous for the style.

Bottle: Poured a dark yellow color liquid with no carbonation. Aroma of sweet grain with alcohol notes very discernible. Taste is heavier on alcohol then I would have expected with some grain notes and loads of honey notes. Body is full with no carbonation. Different and an interesting experience though too much alcohol is discernible. Not something I would have regularly though interesting to taste.
