Good size head with some staying power. Very cloudy, dark amber color. No lasting lace on the glass.
Malty start of moderately caramelized sugar. Floral aromas from a low alpha hop. A touch alcohol warmth.
The flavor matches the nose but with much greater hop (strongly bitter and peppery) and alcohol (imbuing port-like warmth). For a DIPA, this well balance with a nice blend of pale and toasted malts. The body is rich with an equally high carbonation.

The beer color is amber/copper in color and it is crowned by a very tenacious beer. The aroma is dominated by the hops. Tropical fruits with some resinous notes in there.
Taste is very fruity with a nice bitter in the finish. The bitterness is medium at the beginning but takes its place and gets stronger with time. Nicely done. Complex beer. A lots of malts to balance the beer. This is warm in the mouth. Heavy. Strong. Almost like an imperial stout. The malt quantity in this beer must be very high.
Eventhough some will say its not even close to a IIPA, it is mainly due to the bitterness that is not up to par to what is found on the west coast. However, i think it is due to the high malt in the beer.
A good beer if you ask me. I will get more of this one. Not cheap although.

Bottle from Sammy, 500ml into a tulip. Lot#12-09010, bottle is listed at 9%.
Dark reddish brown, unfiltered body (this is bottle conditioned). Voluminous cream coloured head with some sticky lace. Retention is a bit ridiculous at first in a bad way, head won't settle to a level where I can even put my lips to this without getting a noseful of head. Nose is interesting, juciy hop notes in the form of some grapefruit, orange and perhaps a slice of tangerine. A bit resinous. Sweet, malty, perhaps a bit earthy and spicy as well. Some yeast notes as well. Taste is curious perhaps resembling a strong amber/strong ale rather than an IIPA- sweet, alcoholic, fruity/malty (grapes?). Hops in the form of some more grapefruit and dark fleshed citrus, but again some yeast. Medium full mouthfeel and quite sticky, bitterness is listed at 90IBUs but comes across fairly modestly. Again, not an IIPA, but an interesting offering. Wasn't floored by this though.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of floral hoppy notes with light citrus undertones. Taste is a nice enough mix between some floral hoppy notes with light citrus and earthy hops mix in as well. Caramel malt is present though not as dominant as expected. Body is quite full with light oily texture and good carbonation and alcohol is hidden behind hops profile. Not the best example from the style but well brewed nonetheless.
