A smooth-drinking, late-winter wonder. We’ve crafted this English-styled stout using roasted malts and a healthy dose of lactose sugar to produce a creamy-rich beer with hints of roasted chocolate.

Pours dark brown, not quite black, and not quite opaque. Has a decent head, but the lacing is above average.
Aromas of faint nut, coffee and a touch of a metallic character, although it may be a hop note.
The brew is initially sweet on the tip of the tongue with toasted caramel malts, faint chocolate and roasted grain close behind. Mid-palate enjoys some solid nut quality, mild coffee, and the appearance of the promised lactose. However, the brew is more roasty and less sweet than expected, closing with just a touch of hop and ash.
The carbonation is solid and welcome. Medium bodied, but doesn't seem too thin. It has a drying ashy finish for the style.
A solid brew in its own right, I'm not sure it's really a sweet stout.

Brown/black color.
Khaki head; nice lacing.
Oats & coffee in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
An easy drinking coffee/oat stout, sessionable yet tasty.

This was recommended by a clerk in oine of my favorite bottle shops. I found it slightly sweet, bland, and has moderate coffee bitterness. I like several Empyrean stouts, but not this one.

Not sure if this batch was infected or what, but smell and taste were both heavy vinegar. We tested all bottles, total drain pour. Awful, or as my wife puts it, "offal".
