Sampled at the Freetail and Real Ale barrel-aged festival.

The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma is strong on the toffee malts. The flavor is a little bit different. I get notes of piney and grassy hops along with some toffee malt. The hop bitterness and malty sweetness is very well balanced in this beer. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (370 characters)

On tap at the brewpub in the outskirts of San Antonio.

Clear deep amber color with a durable off-white head that leaves fine lacing.

Aroma: sweet and simple.

Flavor: loaded with caramel and roasted grains, it also has a surprising chocolate tone.

Feel: light-medium body and near medium carbonation. .

O: modestly above average for style. (348 characters)

Tasting notes from 3/31 visit to brewery. Matte copper color. Foamy clingy. Bready caramel nose. Soft open, high toffee taste. Breads. Light pine bitter. Good balance. (167 characters)

Served in a pint glass a somewhat hazy medium copper color with the beer filled nearly to the brim (argh), so pretty much foamless.

Clean, nutty and slightly burnt toast aroma with a noticeable amount of sweetness in there...almost like pancake batter.

Toasty malts and a fair amount of hops make this a decently bitter brew with a biscuity and brazil nut feel to it. Not an overly huge fan of toasty amber ales, but this one is stylistically well brewed. It is nice and creamy feeling with a good malt/hop balance. Not bad at all, I think this is their flagship beer, and one of their more sessionable beers. (611 characters)

Great looking beer, plenty of head with huge sheets of terrific lacing that coated the sides of my glass. Amber in color and mosstly clear.

Smell was complex, with a good blend of caramel malts and a hoppy bite.

Taste was quite bold and tasty, especially for a red ale. There was a blend of caramel and crystal malts, along with some fruitiness, and a moderate hops bitterness.

Feel was pretty light bodied and very easy to drink with a decent bitterness in the aftertastes.

Overall it was yet another tasty brew from Freetail, can I have another! (554 characters)

A: Pours a hazy orange/reddish color. A one finger white head forms, with some nice sticky lace.
S: Piny and grassy hops with a light bitterness. A very good balance of toasted caramel and toffee malt. Sweet and a light fruity aroma.
T: Again, a good balance of sweet caramel and toffee malt with piny and grassy hops.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. Crisp, smooth, and dry. Very easy to drink. I can quaff this all day.

Another hit from this brewpub. Excellent balance. Very flavorful. A great everyday beer. (515 characters)
