This was an interesting brew. It came across like an amber saison or a hybrid wit—it’s cloudy, with a toasted straw color and murky foamy clouds topping it.

It has a funky aroma to it, but not in a bad way. Some light honey, some clover, and a lot of yeasty, floral esters. Cloves? Cardamom? Chai spices? There’s definitely a few things going on here. Flavor follows suit, with more of the chai spicing noticeable—in particular cardamom and cloves—along with the honeyed esters. Full bodied, it warms well and holds up to the flavors at play here.

Sampled on tap at the Freetail-Real Ale barrel-aged festival in San Antonio.

The beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of yeast, citrus fruit, grassy and earthy hops. The flavor is more of the same, with the grassy and earthy notes dominating the flavor. I get the slightest bit of yeast character which is probably from the Belgian yeast, but other than that, this beer seems more English than Belgian. Medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel.
