On tap at the brewpub.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is not too sour - I get some wheat and grain notes, with not too much else going on. The flavor is more of what I was expecting. I get some lactic tartness, as well as some sour wheat and lemon notes. I also get some oak-aged notes, as well as some subtle white wine character and some biscuit malt. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Thanks, xpimptastikx!

Light, clear orange and light copper in color with a small white head.

Some mild tart character in the aroma, along with a touch of funk, some peach and white fruit notes, and some earth.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with a nice and light combination of tartness and funk, along with white fruit and a bit of lemon.

Thin to medium bodied with high carbonation.

Very drinkable. Very tasty.

S - Lemon, lactic acid and wheat in the nose. Light orange citrus and oak as well

T - Tart lemon, light sour sweet tarts. Light vinegar presence as well that gives it a sharp edge. It has a slight funky, oaky orange citrus that reminds me slightly of juicy..

M - Light carbonation that give the beer a soft feeling. Dry finish

O - A good light sour that is a bit muted overall. It is definitely refreshing and could see myself really enjoying it on a hot TX day.

Many thanks to John Speights for bringing this one back from San Antonio and the generosity to hook me up with a couple bottles. BA's from Houston are awesomely cool dudes that I'm proud to know.

Beer #5 from the #brewsandbaseball challenge! Still playing catchup!

Poured from bottle into 512 farmhouse glass. Pours a cloudy yellow/orange (closer to yellow, sunshine appearance) color, small carbonation bubbles are visible streaming up from the sides of the glass. Smell- sour cherries, salt, some citrus notes, reminiscent of gueuze aroma. Taste- puckering sour cherries with a really nice sugary tart follow through. Some citrusy lemon rind sourness as well. Mouthfeel is tight carbonation and finish is dry. This is a fantastic sour, for the 6.5% abv, there is no presence of it, and it is a great example of the style. What I don't get that I was expecting is a vinous quality- the sour cherries are the predominant flavor.

Thanks to Daniel for this one. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Lost Abbey tulip. Classy, gorgeous label.

A: Standard pour yields a 1 finger semi-fine white head with moderate retention. Dissipates down to a thin wisp of white with a thick white layer around the edge of the glass. Beer is a clean, clear goldenrod. Lacing is patchy and patterned with good stick.

S: Nose is aromatic and outstanding. Wine barrels come through crisp. Tart white grapes and lemons tickle the nostrils and muted Brett funkiness in the back lends aromas of band-aid and cobweb. Bit of clove and other spice notes also. Not the most complex or funky but very clean and appetizing.

T: Opens tart white grape skin and pulp and lemon and Brett funkiness in the back. Tartness builds and dries just a bit towards the middle. Yeasty, Brett characteristics come through more. Band-aid, lemon, and yeast at the finish which is very clean. Near no aftertaste.

M: Light bodied and amply carbonated. Lively and bubbly in the mouth. Puckering upfront and dries slightly towards the end. Oily and silky sliding down. Clean finish with just a slightly saliva-y aftertaste.

D: This is one of those beers where you open your last one and you think shit... well now I have to get more... I have no choice. A very very under-the-radar American Wild Ale... this is every bit as good as the hyped Veritas series or Russian River sours. Simply a fantastic beer.
