From my notes:

A smokey witbier? Not sure if that’s the appropriate description but it’s the first and second thing that has come to mind both times I’ve tried this beer. Pours hazy. There’s a great smoke profile that comes out in this beer. Chipotle? It’s not spicy on the palate, although there’s so much flavor. However, as a fan of smokey beers it doesn’t work for me. I wish for more body, more malt backbone, maybe more roasty notes to come through? But then it wouldn’t be a smokey witbier and I’d be drinking a smoked porter. (555 characters)

On tap at the brewpub shortly after the La Muerta bottle release.

The beer pours a golden white color with a large white head. The aroma has a ton of smoke in it, as well as a little bit of biscuit malt. The smoke is fairly ashy, not meaty like you get in a lot of smoked beers.

The flavor is similar. I get a lot of biscuit and bready malt, as well as some strong, ashy smoke. There is also a bit of yeast in the flavor as well as some light citrus notes.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (502 characters)

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Poured a cloudy orange-yellow with a centimeter thick white head that lingers and fades into a thin lacing over the top of the beer.

Aroma: The smokey aroma over powers everything else. It's not in your face smokey but it is definitely more smokey then the regular la Rubia.

Taste: A touch of coriander, clove and some orange zest with layers of smoke.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: It's pretty good and it paired well with my bbq pizza. (527 characters)
