The folks at Freetail call this a “Hopplebock with brett.” Does that mean it’s a dopplebock that’s also hoppy—and funky? Not sure that any of these apply, or rather, they combine to defy description.
This pours a cloudy amber-burgundy color. It has a very tart aroma to it, noticeable from the get go. It tastes lip-puckeringly tart, more savory than sweet. Such an interesting, distinct, engaging flavor. I’m not sure I’ve ever had anything quite like it. Delicious! Really enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub shortly after the La Muerta bottle release.
The beer pours a hazy brown color with a white head. The aroma has some nice dark fruit notes, as well as quite a bit of toffee and wheat. There is also some nice funk and leather notes from the brett, which go well with the other notes.
The flavor is a little bit different. I still get a lot of funk and leather notes from the brettanomyces, which are accentuated with some orange citrus notes. There is also some toffee and a light amount of sourness in the flavor. The beer is fairly dry overall and very easy to drink.
Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.

This beer was sampled on draft at Freetail. It was incredibly oaky with a slight funk. Darker color than most wilds & almost a deep English dark mild color. Carbonation was amazing and sits on the tongue very nicely. I got a growler of this to go because I loved it so much. Highly recommend!!!

Poured into a sniffer.
Appearance: Pours a murky brown with yellow hues and a thin off white head that fades to a spotty lacing.
Aroma: Sweet caramel malt, toffee, figs, dark fruit, candi fruit, and plumbs.
Taste: The taste in no way is related to the aroma. The taste is really earth and musty, with a slight onion taste. Slightly sour on the finish, but pretty sweet overall.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium-high carbonation.
Overall: This is one of the more interesting beer's i've experienced. The aroma was so different from the taste it was surprising.
