Thanks to nate8767 for the bottle!

Pours pitch black with a small tan head that fades into a wisp. Decent lacing.

Aroma consists of chocolate with a bit of coffee. Maybe a little oak. Also a hint of tartness. I hope this isn't infected.

Whew don't think it's an infection, but still kind of an odd flavor profile. Starts off with some good roast chocolate. A little bit of an odd stone fruit taste in the middle mingling with some wood smoke and vanilla. Finishes fairly sweet on the tongue with some astringency.

A little sweet, but somehow not incredibly full bodied. Carbonation levels are a touch high.

Overall I thought this was a bit of a mess. The flavor profile is all over the place and it doesn't really fit together well.

Big thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle. Always happy to try a new beer from Freetail.

The beer pours a black color with a brown head. The aroma has a lot of oats and cream in it, with some nice chocolate and roasted malt notes. The flavor is more of the same, with the chocolate and roasted malt notes standing out front. There is also some lactose-like sweetness, as well as a hint of smoke. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A - Pours nearly black with a modest tan head that shows great retention. A bit of deep mahogany comes through around the edges. No lacing.

S - Big notes of toffee, milk chocolate, and vanilla are accompanied by more subtle aromas of smoke and coffee. A beautiful nose overall.

T - Chocolate, toffee, and vanilla are the dominant flavors, backed up by a huge roasted malt center. Some faint notes of coffee and smoke come through in the finish, creating a mocha-like flavor profile when combined with the chocolate and vanilla flavors. Balance is in favor of sweet roasted malt, with the oats giving a nice roundness to the beer. The big mocha-esque flavor earns a 5 for taste. I love that in a porter.

M - Full-bodied and a bit heavy with a smooth velvety finish. Plenty of carbonation to keep this roasted monster easy to drink.

O - A very unique and extremely enjoyable porter. I love the way Freetail continues to push boundaries and try new things. This was their best anniversary beer so far, and by a longshot. I'm really glad I picked up some bottles. It'll be interesting to see how it ages.
