The beer poured a golden amber with a huge fluffy white head. I detected tropical fruit with citrus notes in the aroma with some slight floral hops as well. The taste starts with a huge juicy tropical citrus hop bitterness that take over your palate then transforms into a fruity floral bitterness that coats your tongue. The Velocihoptor is a very well balance IPA that takes you on a perfect hop journey and ends with a nice dry finish.

Appearance: Murky amber glass holds a thin white cover that doesn't give much lace.

Smell: Lightly leafy hop, earthy hop, but still American some how. A good bready base gives a fresh and inviting smell.

Taste: A lighter IPA in terms of both hops and punch, but goes a bit oily and shows some backbone. Still ends up being a strong APA, but refreshing and clean.

Mouthfeel: Medium light body, mild carbonation, bit oily in the finish.

Overall: A refreshing interesting mix of hops that gives a great flavor at a milder pace. Good session, good growler fill.

A: Deep orange almost amber color. Slightly off white fluffy head. About a finger there. Sticky lacing.

S: Slight breadiness. Some herbal hops. Almost aged? Some slight fruit. Sweetness from malts.

T: Bitterness up front. Herbal notes. Almost tea like. Behind that you have some malt sweetness. Dry finish.

M: Medium bodied. Coats the mouth.

Tan and clear with a good head and lace.

The malt base is ample and there's plenty of grapefruity hops. There's also a nice bit of sweetness that gives this beer an extra dimension, it's quite not as dry as some IPAs.

Body is medium, moderately carbonated, and damn easy to drink. A nice medium bitterness finishes, and the moderate level of alcohol doesn't leave you too toasted after drinking the whole bomber!

This is a fine beer. I think I liked the Soul Doubt IPA better, but anytime I get something from Freetail, I'm always pleased. I have to go that way today, hopefully they're open when I pass by so I can pick up something else to try!

Thanks mhenson42 for the big score.

This is one of many freetail beers I scored in a bif and the first that's missing its cap. Beer pours an enormous head as some others have stated especially into my Sierra Nevada iPa glass. Color is apple juice and the smell is sweet and grape fruity. Mouthfeel if there is such a thing is fine, the aftertaste is a little bland but that can be attributed to the low abc maybe. This is a middle of the road iPa and a good start not a great start for my freetail experience.

Side note, no abv, ibu, or bottling info on the bottle, all breweries need that info on the bottle in my opinion.

Appearance: Another foamy beer from Freetail, this beer pours out a clear amber liquid; good retention and lacing action

Smell: Floral grapefruit tones dominate the aroma

Taste: The malt lays a sweet base underneath the grapefruit hops though the hops really dominate the flavor from start to finish; just enough sweetness throughout to balance the bitter flavors

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Having had a poor experience with a five or six month old bottle, a fresh bottle really opened my eyes to the brewers talent with the style; more than any other brewery I have encountered, Freetail beers need to be consumed fresh

Thanks, BeerHunter76, for the opportunity and to jl28r1, for the chance to try a fresher sample. As the beer label says, this beer is "not for aging."
