"Our ale features beets, oranges and rosewater - ingredients that wouldn’t be possible without the insatiable, insectivorous efforts of bats. $5 from each bottle sold goes to Bat Conservation International, learn more at batcon.org." Nice, that’s a pretty hefty portion of the sales!
22 oz bottle pours a very hazed, light gold color with a small cap of off-white head. No much for retention but does show some decent lace.
Nose is sweet and fruity, the beets really stand out. I can see some similarities with Wacko from Magic Hat, which also has beets. This one smells better though and more balanced. The orange(peel?) is notable too. Malts are light and biscuity...maybe a kiss of toffee.
Tastes better than I thought it would, the beets are really mild but definitely there and contribute an odd, but enjoyable flavor. The malts are really light, but provide a nice dense and creamy mouthfeel. The orange(peel?) provides a needed bitterness on the finish. Hops are low, which is probably a good thing in this beer. Its very drinkable, it makes a good little drinker. If I had to guess at ABV, I would wager it is about 5.5% or so.
