This place just opened a month or so ago and they're still in the process of making their beers.

A - Quiet and comfortable. There's a patio outside for smokers. There are also plenty of TV screens to hold the attention of quiet drinkers like myself. There's also a dart board, which I thought was a nice touch. One thing that kinda caught me off guard was the humidity and, well, funk that was coming from the brewing room, which isn't sealed off from the dining area. That threw my palate off a bit, but I doubt that it's a common occurence. I guess that's my punishment for drinking at 3 in the afternoon.

Q - Everything's quite obviously brand new. No complaints here. They only had three BOP beers available when I went, and all three were exceptional.

Service - Very good service. The bartender suffered me gladly and answered all of the questions I had for him. I also had the oppurtunity to talk to one of the brewmasters, who told me about the upcoming brewing schedule.

Selection - They're still working on their BOP brews. They have three available now with another one hitting the taps next week. There's four more that they'll be brewing over the next month or so. I look forward to going back there when they have their full arsenal on tap. In the meantime, they have a great selection of "guest" beers, all Texas micros. They had ten guest beers on tap when I went.

F - Their menu consists of salads, sandwiches, specialty pizzas, a few desserts, and a diverse variety of appetizers. I tried the shrimp alfredo pizza. It was very good, but seemed overpriced considering the size. I tried the Freetail Sub when I went up there a few weeks ago. It was very good as well. They use aged provolone, which was a nice touch, though the bread was a bit stale. And it was also overpriced. Maybe it was the cheese.

Great environment, nice atmosphere with the people, and decent view of the hillside it resides on. Heard it was more beautiful before they built the houses surrounding the hills but nonetheless very nice scenery to enjoy a cold craft brew. Staff very knowledgeable of their beer selection so very helpful in deciding what beers to have. Overall great experience.

Vibe - Nice place to go. Usually always packed and has a really good following. Lots of tv's
Quality - I'm a little less impressed with the majority of their beers than many people seem to be. Some of their limited release stuff is very good, but the majority of the what they have on their 16 taps at any given time I find just to be average.
Service - Service seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes I have great service, other times it seems the bartenders couldn't care less if I'm there or not. That's why I rated a 3.5 for service. I will say the past two times I've been, the service has been really good.
Selection - 16 beers on taps and several guest taps.
Pizza is excellent and what keeps me coming back. Highly recommend getting it.

Great beers, especially the various 'Wit' beers. Food at the north (pub) location is very good. Food truck at the production facility (south) is excellent (Mr. Fish'. Taco Truck).

Great option on the outskirts of San Antonio. Active vibe, lots of TVs to catch sporting events, and plenty of room to get comfortable. Wide ranging variety on top, with make your own 4 beer samplers. Pretty extensive menu as well with one highlight being the hot pretzels. Definitely worth a trip.

I didn't try the food though I've heard it's great. Just came in and got two flights of beers.

They seem to like wit beers and had at least four on tap when I was there. A spirulina wit stood out on the menu but it's not too remarkable to drink. The Witicus is the beer geek's best bet of the wit beers.

On the other spectrum they had a black IPA, a Belgian and Imperial Stout and an American Wild Ale that all appealed to me on the menu. They represented a good mix of styles and offered different flavor profiles that I like when visiting a brewery (I like variety).

I must say they're Endymion is an exceptional brew and reminded me a bit of The Dissident or La Folie, both exceptional beers that I love. Unfortunately it wasn't available for growler fills.

The service was friendly and helpful, although you can tell they get a lot of inexperienced beer drinkers in there, so you'll get warnings like "It's sour," which are kinda funny.

Lastly, the outdoor area here is nice, but the indoor area does feel a bit like a dark, trashy college bar. Maybe it's meant to suggest a cave (for the freetail bats) but either way, it's not exactly appealing.

Also, the location along the highway in a stripmall kind of setting isn't much to write home about either.

Before driving to Austin and leaving San Antonio, I took the wife to Freetail Brewing.

Driving there is no joke- miles and miles of northbound freeway to a point where you are still within city limits but it feels like a subdivision in the middle of nowhere. The space is large and standard, nothing terribly unique but comfortable and functional.

I spotted 19 taps all around, including 15 Freetail and 4 guest taps from Texas. Of the house beers, I tried, in a 5-oz flight of 4 brews, the Old Bat Rastard (winter warmer), Hopothosis (DIPA), Thanatos (7.2% stout) and FT2 Witicus (sort of an imperial wheat). All of them were OK but a little underwhelming aka average. I wouldn’t rush to fill a growler here… although I did like the La Muerta imperial stout I had on tap at Friendly Spot.

I had read about the Freetail pizza and was curious (and hungry!). But both the wife and I were left a little cold… the size is good and the crust is thin, but it lacked flavor all around, from dough to toppings. Not even hot sauce and cheese could save it from blandness. The cheesy bread appetizer was simple and yummy, though.

Service was pretty friendly and prices are not terrible ($18 for a massive pizza). It was a good stop for us and I’m glad I tried Freetail, but I don’t think I will revisit.

Attended for La Muerta release. Did a sampler and beers were good, but not as great as I had hoped. Not as congested as expected either, venue as attached to a mall with plenty of outdoor seating. Service was good and prices reasonable. Will probably go back on a slower day.
