jazzy looking can on this fairly old school reddish hued pale ale. its a little maltier than i generally like the style to be, but it remains easy drinking being on the drier side for its color, and without a ton of hop bitterness, this beer would have been a hit ten years ago. it has a vintage west coast hop profile with some of that vegetal cascade type spice and a little grapefruit as well, clean and bright and fresh, rising just above the toasted sort of malt base, crystal heavy but not sweet at all, good body for a 5% abv brew, and upbeat carbonation that helps it finish quickly. i get soft orange peel here, a blast of higher alpha bitterness before the end, but then its mild with the malt balance at the swallow. best when ice cold, i thought this got a bit weighty with temperature, but a nice one to slam right from the can. flavorful enough to not be boring, but not my favorite of the beers i had from these guys, just not distinct enough to really stand out, and a with more of a malt factor than is ideal for session beers, at least to me. good not great.

I bought a couple of six packs of this when I was in Pensacola Beach.
Poured from a can into a glass, the beer is copper with a beige head.
It has a nose of grains, caramel and a bit of pine.
This is a sweeter APA as the malts add some cereal & toffee notes. There is some bitterness that comes in during the after taste, it is something like guava and citrus.
The mouth is slick and sturdy.
This was an easy drinker for those hot days at the beach. It has enough facets to keep you engaged.
