This 6.0% ABV ale is a West Coast style India Pale Ale that combines 6 malts and 6 hops with additional dry hopping for three weeks. It takes about a month and a half to make each batch and we think it is worth the wait. Hints of pine and citrus with a powerful, yet balanced hoppy flavor, Hopitoulas packs a punch that you won’t forget.

nawleens makes good everything, and a good IPA. this one is dark gold and flavor sits nicely in the mouth. the afternotes are stimulating and show the complexity of the brew and the time they take to brew it. i love a lot of other IPAs more but this one smacks of Big Easy , easiness. Great pairing for crawdads or your favorite entoufee!

yall come back now , y'hear?

From a growler filled at the Avenue Pub. The beer pours an orange-amber color with a large white head. The aroma has a nice amount of bread and toffee, with some strong pine notes added in. The flavor is more hoppy than the aroma. I get quite a bit of pine and orange citrus, with some grass also thrown in. The bready malt keeps the bitterness fairly low and allows the hop flavor to shine. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Had a few pints around New Orleans, easily one of the best beers in town. I loved the contrast of fruity, floral hops up front, with a rich, deep grapefruit and pine finish. Mixed in for balance was a healthy share of bready, toffee malt to balance out the bitterness. Overall, a damned tasty IPA.

Thanks to MasterSki for sharing the growler!
Review from notes...

Pours into a mini-pint glass with random downward streaks of lace and a finger of foam that fades to a fine, wispy skim. High clarity orange color. A large cluster of bubbles is nested on the surface.

Pleasant hoppy aroma, softly floral, a little herbal and woody, with some backing citrus rind. Flavor is similar with a fairly mellow character, clear notes of citrus peel and floral hops. Drying, almost tacky feel in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation, soft feel. Refreshing and drinkable, bitterness is not too aggressive, so its approachable and sessionable.

I was happy to see this at several places during my latest visit to the Big Easy. The local beer scene seems to be really improving!

I reviewed this one at the Long Bar and it was my first beer of the evening.

Served in a std pint, the beer is a nice bronze with a beige head. It has a bit of chill haze.

It has an aroma of citrus, grains and spice.

It reminds me more of an English style IPA than an American IPA. It has nicely modulated citrus-based bitterness. There are lots of caramel malts for balance with floral and wood notes in the finsih.

The mouth is solid and a bit slick. I think this a pretty good session IPA.
