Notes/Commercial Description:
This is an American style stout that has sweet malt flavors of caramel and chocolate, complimented by a crisp bitterness produced by roasted barley and American Hops. The complex malt bill of pale and roasted malts result in this well balanced stout that is smooth, rich, dark and delicious! And watch out – ABV 6.8%!

Thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is very similar. The predominant flavor is cocoa powder, with some medium roasted malts also thrown in. Even with all of the malt, the beer is very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bomber sent to me from LSUPT from the One Bottle Need Karma LIF, thanks again man! Finally crackin it open, and damn is it a beauty. Pitch black pour with a coffee khaki head tracking lacing behind in its wake. Chocolate dominated aroma with some kind of bittering dark chocolates present and a touch of a sweet fruit like quality. Same on the tongue with a remarkable drying bitterness in back. Aftertaste is roasty & lingers til the next sip. This stout is pretty much spot on - creamy body, well carbed, chocolate bomb. Only significant critique is that I wish the body was beefed up a bit.

Had this one at the source while visiting New Orleans for Cantillon Zwanze Day! Served from tap into a NOLA shaker. Poured a massively dark red-brown with a three finger tan head that subsided to one finger slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, cream, earth, milk chocolate, earth hop, and roasted malt. The flavor was of sweet malt, milk chocolate, cream, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. For the style this one had a lot of the aspects that one would expect with the roastiness and subtle sweetness to go along with it. This made it easy to drink and fairly enjoyable at the same time. I just wish there would have been something else to make this one standout from the other brews from the style. Glad I got to try this one and suggest you do the same if you are a fan of the style.

Friend brought a bottle of this back from Stein's Deli. Though it would be appropriate to drink on St. Paddy's Day. Served in a Bud signature glass.

Pours a deep black with a decent tan head. Looks a bit thin, but it fits the style quite well.

The nose is mostly coffee. The coffee here blends quite well with the rest of the beer... even better than the Peche Mortel. However, it's not quite as strong overall and a bit one dimensional.

The taste is also a wonderrful coffee blended into a good dry stout. Give me this over Guiness any day. Smooth and drinkable, but it doesn't quite have the depth of flavor I'd want to give it more than a 4. A solid offering that's a good choice for any St. Patrick's Day!

22oz provided by LSUPT. Finally got to this one Alex!

Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a great big mocha head. Leaves small amounts of lacing in my snifter.

Smells of roasted coffee, chocolate, and slight vanilla. Exactly how a stout should.

Taste follows the smell with subtle chocolate and vanilla, then gobs of roasted coffee greatness. I really like the bitter coffee characteristics in this one. Very nice.

Mouthfeel is light and very smooth for a stout. Extremely drinkable.

Very enjoyable offering from Nola.

Pour is black, with a hint of brown around the edges. Big 2 finger milk chocolate head adorns, with a little lacing.

Smell is nice and sweet, with milk chocolate, and loads of roasted malts. Hints of bitter round it out.

Taste is initially roasted malts, with a cocoa finish. Faintest hint of espresso and some piney hops finish this thing out.

Creamy, smooth, and velvety. Little carbonation. Medium in body.

This is yummy, and a great drinkable stout...cant wait for them to bottle this!!!
