Bought a 4-pack of tall boys when I was visiting friends and family in New Orleans. Finally getting around to posting some reviews. Poured into a Terrapin snifter/tulip (doesn't flare out at the lip like a tulip, but isn't nearly as large as a traditional snifter and has more of a tulip shape otherwise).
A: Nice, hazy, light copper color with a solid 1.5-2 fingers' worth of head that sticks around for a while.
S: I'm a huge fan of citrusy, grapefruit-y hop scents and this certainly has that. I can't rate it much higher, though, because I'm also getting some off-notes in all 4 of my cans. Nothing major, just a little hint of a funk that wouldn't be out of place in a saison but really doesn't work too well with an IPA. Also some very mild piney resin notes.
T: Hmmmm. The grapefruit is a lot more present in the smell than in the taste. While it's still there, this one has much more of the piney flavor up front. The smell is more pleasing than the taste with this one. I also get a hint of a metallic taste on the finish, sort of like the smell you get on your hands after handling some old tin cans. It wouldn't be so bad if the finish weren't so long, but it's the note that stands out most upon exhaling. It lingered for a good 20 minutes after I finished this one.
M: Nothing stands out here, which is good for the style. Too thin and you've got no body, no finish. Too thick and it destroys your taste buds. This floats in the middle quite well, though it may be a bit too carbonated for my personal tastes.
O: This is a solid brew, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to seek it out again. Nothing to turn your nose up at, but I can think of at least 5 or 6 very widely available DIPAs I'd rather have. I was glad I got to try a solid DIPA from my hometown and will likely give it another try next time I'm in town, especially if it's on tap.

Bright glowing hazy orange body, topped by a level four fingers of oatmeal colored floppy bubbles. Tight drippy lace coats the glass.
Aroma is oranges, lemons, and pine. Inviting but could a tad more oomph.
Big sweet malt foundation. Burst of fruit. Huge bitter bite. Sense of bigness in all things. Abrasive, in a good way.
Full and tingly mouthfeel.
Not a DIPA you drink in a hurry. Definitely worth a try if you're visiting Big Easy.
