on-tap, collins pub

appearance: shaker pint, bright and clear golden-copper body, active white foam with light retention

smell: grassy hops, lemon rind, pepper, grains, honey

taste: a solid pilsner that could be in strong rotation come summer time - grassy noble hops, lemon rind, honey, toasted grains, a little peppery bite. nice stuff

mouthfeel: relatively high carbonation, light bodied and easy drinking

overall: a well-done pilsner...somewhat of an anomaly in the region (481 characters)

On tap at the brewery the other day.

The beer pours a light gold color with good head retention and lacing. The beer has a very pilsner-like nose, with honey, biscuit dough and light pepper. This smells quite nice. The flavor profile in this beer is terrific, and tends to replicate the nose. There is a surprising amount of flavor in this beer, and it finishes with an excellent crisp, bitter finish. The beer is quite light, crisp and refreshing, and drinkability is superb.

No surprise at all that this beer showed well at the recent GABF. This is terrific stuff.

Update from 4/13. Sampled again recently at E9. I was curious to see if the beer had changed much since I had it at the brewery some years back, as Chuckanut has gone through several brewers since then. Happily, the beer was every bit as delicious at E9 in Tacoma as it was at the brewery. This beer is so easy to drink, it's hard not to just drink it right down at a sitting over the course of a few minutes. My pint was gone before I knew it. Just an altogether excellent pils. (1,049 characters)

This is not a style I drink, but pilsner fans would enjoy this. Looks, smells, and tastes as advertised. (104 characters)

At the Brewpub on 2-16-12

A - Served a light yellow-orange with a foamy head that slowly fades leaving solid lacing down the side.

S - Ahh..smells like a pilsner.

T - Pilsner, ya know. Nutty, corn, yeast.

D - Good carbonationa and a medium-light body.

O - Good for the style, but not my style. (298 characters)

On tap at the Chuckanut Brewery. Another crystal clear beer. Poured a bright straw with a pillowy white head. The nose is a little spicy and not much else. The taste is spicy, a bit soapy and has some pepper and clove. The mouthfeel is dry, clean and has a light body. Over all too dr and would be hard for me to go through two. (328 characters)

On tap into an American pint glass @ Ivar's Salmon House, Seattle. Pours a clear pale golden color w/ a minimal white head.

Aroma is delicate, floral, slightly grassy.

Taste is nicely grainy, floral, with a hint of white grapes. Clean, crisp, drinkable.

Mouthfeel is likewise crisp and light, refreshing.

Overall a really nice, restrained, balanced pilsner. (361 characters)

From the 500 ml bottle purchased at the brewery restaurant in Bellingham. Clear pale golden in the Einbecker Pilsner glass with a plentiful foam and lots of spritz on the tongue.

Crisp and light, with a resiny tang. Moderately hoppy with a bitterness that gradually creeps up to the aftertaste. Some light and crackery malt, but a substantial mouthfeel. A pleasant tangy and brambly taste. The hops are fruity and a bit herbal tasting, with a piney note. Plenty of bitterness but no real bite.

Overall, a fine example of the Pilsner style and a great quaff. (559 characters)
