Served a dark amber with an off white creamy head that fades quickly. Third beer from Chuckanut that lacks in the aroma department. There is a subtle flowery spice and not much else. The taste is lager with roasty malt, some spice and more dr than bitter. The mouthfeel is dry with a sweet finish and a touch of smokiness.

Handsome dark auburn brown color with a creamy head in the pint nonic. Plenty of fine-grained carbonation on the tongue. Wonderful grainy aroma.

Taste is slightly tangy but rich with malt. a smooth caramel taste with a hoppy edge. Lots of browned malt. Toasty with a fruity note of something like raspberries. Bitter tany for the finish. So many unassuming but ideal beery flavors. No wonder the Germans led the world in brewing for so long.

This is one of the best Alt-style brews I've had. the fizzy mouthful actually goes well with the malty mellowness. A great glass on the terrace at the brewpub.

12oz bottle into a snifter.

Burnt umber body with a finger of creamy beige froth. Good clarity. Rich bready and biscuity malt profile with noble hop aromatics. Restrained fruity esters bring to mind raisin, date, and a bit of plum. Light nutty quality. The flavor showcases a complex and rich malt profile that lends biscuit, nutty character, and bread. There's an upper low level of bitterness balancing the malt. There's a bit of date, raisin, and plum. The finish is clean. The beer is medium in body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and dry. Overall, an enjoyable and well-made Düsseldorf-style Altbier.

A bottle left over after GABF judging and given to me as a reward for my volunteer efforts. Pours a three finger cream-colored head over a brilliant red-brown liquid. Smells hop floral, earthy, bubblegummy, and empty dark grains. Comes across as a bit chemically.

Tastes noble earthy hops with supporting malt sweet. Oranges and pineapple from hops fill out the finish and dry the malt away. Tin-like, as one gets from Saaz hops. Just a touch of hop spiciness in the end, like one would expect in a good pils. The aftertaste is dry chocolate with a bit of sour astringency. Light body and moderate carbonation. Appropriate balance between hops and malt with proper body and carbonation. It just has a few conflicting characteristics that I wasn't fond of.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clear, clean coppery amber color with just over an inch of light tan head that had moderate retention and lacing.

A slightly sweet, yet well balanced, malt aroma greets the nose and has a hint of hop on the end. The flavors are well blended, the malt smoothness upfront, a little tickle of hop on the finish.

The body is quite nice, fulfilling and slightly sticky. Drinkability is is also very good, having several of these for a session would not be a chore. This is a very nice beer, certainly a must try if you see it.

As with all Chuckanut beers, the alt begins with refined visual clarity, a downy soft head, and splayed lace in abundance. It is the color of polished oak and emits no perceptible aroma at first, but upon warming it offers up an exotic woodiness. The taste is slightly nutty with firm bittering. Though I wouldn't call Chuckanut's serving temperature too cold, the beer definitely improved upon warming when it expresses its truer alt qualities in the finish.

Not overly bold for an alt. I suspect some flavor may have been sacrificed to the finings and filtration process. But a clean ale with solid drinkability.
