A: Poured a nice amber color with good carbonation and a small white head

S: German malts, swett, caramel

T: What the heck? An American Amber fused with german malts. Plenty of German influence but it left this style underwhelming. Some caramel, grains on taste

M: Lighter bodied for this style, clean but not appealing, not bad but not good either

D: Try if you wish

This amber ale seemed almost out of place among the German derived lagers that dominate Chuckanut's beer menu. If you work your way down Chuck's beer list this one will quickly stand out for its plump ale-body. It shows polished clarity in a yellow-amber color similar to the Vienna lager.

The amber is clean but with casual taste parameters. It speaks of caramel toast with restrained bittering. But it's a beer of understated character with little identity to latch onto and far less distinctive than Chuckanut's lagers. It's possible that the best elements of this beer were lost to filtration.
