Another good beer from the people at Lake Placid Brewery. Medium beer that goes down pretty easy. Smells a little funky but the taste is very good. This is my growler beer and I would sujest picking one up yourself, with a 6 pack of Ubu ofcourse. The brewery is right down the road from me, in Plattsburgh, so its just fun visiting the place and looking around. (361 characters)

On draft at the brewery.

Poured a light straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a good doughy malt and a flowery hop.

The taste consisted of a light soft malt and a balancing floral hop.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a pretty tasty and easily quaffable ale. (346 characters)

For a light offering, this is a nice beer.
The appearance is that of a very clear light golden with moderate carbonation. The crown is short but leaves a very impressive glass cling that climbs to the top and stays.
This is a very well balanced brew with a slight edge to the malts.
A very pretty and refreshing brew that can be quaffed all evening long....Recomended. (371 characters)

Blarg, my least favorite beer at LP Pub and Brewery. Totally uninteresting. Seems like it’s on the menu for people who don’t really like craft beer at all and just want something light, bland, and poundable. Pale yellow and clear with a decent white head, slippery lace. Very mild aroma and flavor, with low hop presence and a trace of malt. A little sweet, a little grassy. Very much in the line of an AAL, even though it’s an ale. That’s about it.

Crisp carbonation, served cold, easily drinkable, easy to forget. Not for me. Even on the hottest summer days I want something with a bit more character, like a nice Hefeweizen or Berliner Weiss. Or many, many other choices. (683 characters)

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a light, pale malt scent with a faint hop aroma. The taste is decent as well. It has a smooth pale malt flavor that goes down real easy and finishes dry and light with little hop character. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a quaffable session brew. It's light and easy drinking with nothing too offensive going on. (484 characters)

Gave the Moose Island a try while we where at a local restaurant in Lake Placid (not at the Pub and Brewery) as it was either this or Bud and Bud Light. Could have been because we had just finished our hiking a few hours earlier but this brew pleasantly surprised me. I will admit that it is not one of my favorite styles and might be somewhat hard pressed to get it again unless under the same circumstances. The brew was poured to a somewhat cloudy dull golden color with a white colored head that had pretty good retention leaving some lacing. The aromas from this brew where nice, highlights of malt, slight roast smell and grassy. The taste is nice, subtle, not an eye opener but a good sessional beer for a warm day. Notice a roast like malt taste that breaks away to a sweet grassy taste that is quite pleasant. No real notice of hops as it seems to be a standard run of the mill brew that has been produced for the masses. I know that it is pretty tame as my wife enjoyed it and normally all she likes is basic pilsner lagers and blond ales. Over all I would say it is a good brew, not one that I would run out and get but recommend giving it a try if you have the chance. (1,180 characters)

Got it on tap at the brewery in Lake Placid.

A: Body is light golden with a 1+ finger white head. Leaves good lace.

S: Faint. Floral and perfumey.

T: Sweet malt dominates up front, with a touch of honey-like sweetness. Does finish with a modest taste of fruity hops.

M: Light; carbonation is modest.

O: OK. Not a bad summer offering. (338 characters)

I'm sorry, but is this really a pale ale? I fear this is one of those beers that you must like light beers to enjoy. However, it was served cold and crisp. But it lacked any bite (which is what I look for in a beer). It was a light, translucent yellow in the glass with a filmy head. A thick lace would form as I sipped, but it would quickly slide back down into the beer. The taste was more wheaty than it was hoppy, almost sweet. But it was not as wheaty as a hefeweizen. There was no "whoomp" that made me want another one. However, I can see some people (particularly those who don't like strong beers) enjoying it. (619 characters)

I'm a big fan of Lake Placid Brewpub beers but not this one. light color with an all right head, not much carbonation nor aroma. some sweetnes in the taste but overall, not a whole lot there.

On the better side, the Giants did beat the Kansas City Chiefs. (259 characters)

Looked the color of unfiltered apple cider, had a light grainy\grassy smell. The taste however was so slight as to be almost non-existent, and coupled with the thin mouthfeel I felt like I was drinking river water. I wouldn't say it tasted bad by any means, it just didn't taste like anything. Drinkable enough I guess, but unless I develop a hankering for alcohol-infused water this beer is just not for me. (408 characters)

brought fresh form the brewery on a rainy early summer afternoon. not the ideal weather to quaff this local gem, but ill never say no to a fresh lake placid brew. it pours a clear as day honey color, with bright carbonation and three quarters of an inch of white head. I smell sweeter pale malts, fruity American hops, and an ale yeast ive encountered before. the taste is a lot like the nose, very refreshing, with hints of spring pollen, and new oil heavy hops. this is a beer drinkers summer beer, full of flavor, and embodying the spirit of the Adirondacks. light and bubbly on the tongue, clean and crisp in the finish, almost like a lager. a beer not just for summer though, as today, in front of the woodstove and a monopoly board proved. not sure how ive missed this one from lake placid until this point, but I am thankful that I miss it no more. (855 characters)
