More clove than banana. This is my second Lake Placid beer and they both have a clean aspirin-like finish which I don't like. Wasn't bad in the golden ale but it really ruins the hef.

Served in hefe glass at 45 degrees F.
And from the bottle at 40 degrees F. (My preference)
Appearance - Golden yellow, straw color. Wheaty and cloudy, but looks boring and flat. Okay head when poured, but falls apart quickly.
Smell - Malts: roasty, toasty, biscuity. Hops: herbal, spicy, very citrusy.
Taste - Missing the banana flavor I want in a hefeweizen. This one is more citrusy, and quite sour, which is a decent trade-off. Wheat flavor is overpowered, but there.
Mouthfeel - Passes smoothly onto the palate. Light carbonation is nice, and draws the citrus notes together. Refreshing and biting.
Overall - I've had better hefeweizen, without a doubt. This one's not too bad, but it's also a little tired and boring.

Poured into a Maredsous goblet. Because, hey, why the hell not?
A: Man, there ain't no polite way to say something looks like urine. And not even a regular day's pee, but really dark like when you're hungover and dehydrated. I'd usually expect something a little lighter from a hefe. Even the head was more off-white than white.
S: Spicy cloves and a bit of hay. Lacking in bannannerness.
T: Yep, 'nanner notes take a backseat to relatively heavy clove spice and mild wheat background.
M: Creamy. Bubbly. Etc.
O: Nice. Leave it in the bottle and enjoy.
