I had this on tap at the Left Hand/Lake Placid Dueling Beer Dinner at Cambridge Common Restaurant (6/16/10). Great event!

Appearance: Dark amber in color with little to no head

Aroma: Smells fruity, sweet, thick, with slight alcohol notes

Taste: Sweet, a little fruity - maybe I'm tasting plum or apricot? - yeasty and malty. It is very balanced, very toasted. Yum.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and full bodied

Notes: Very easy to drink for almost 9% ABV

Serving type: on-tap

A - Pours a very clear golden amber with a one finger tan head. Head dissipates quickly but the lacing is slightly sticky.

S - Not very impressive in the aroma department. Slightly grassy hops and some bready malt, otherwise a somewhat sour aspect to the aroma. Some fruit is also present, mainly apple or grapes.

T - Quite a contrast from the nose. Initially very boozy and hoppy, followed by a lingering "sour" taste. Slightly sweet aftertaste, with a dry and somewhat boozy finish. Not all that complex, but well balanced.

M - Thin yet smooth, with a good amount of carbonation.

D - It's well balanced, smooth, and refreshing. However it seems a little boozy to have more than a few of!

Overall, this is a good springtime beer. I still think Dead Guy Ale is my favorite of the style I have tried, admittedly not having tried many. This seems to be a less popular style and is somewhat "funky," but interesting nonetheless.
