On tap at the brewpub poured into a mug
the appearance was pretty black with a creamy head that dissipated pretty quickly. not to much lacing. smell was like vanilla beans and roasted malt; the taste was similar to the smell the vanilla came through nicely. sweetness was well balanced and the flavor was very good. carbonation was low. I like the beer but i felt like it's body was lacking a little. i think this beer would be better with more body. the smell and taste were right on but after each sip i felt like i was missing something. they should try it as a stout.

A: Great appearance with a good sized head and decent retention. Lacing was quite good.

S: Plenty of toasted malt character with scent of vanilla present but not overpowering.

T: The malts come through the most but the vanilla character is there. Very toasty with burnt bread present as well. Hop bitterness is very low.

M: I'd appreciate more body here.

O: Not overly filling, nor does it burn out the palate, but one or two is enough.
