Pours just as the label says a deep garnet color with a thinner off white head atop, aromas of deep pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg and cardamom stand out most, seems fuller than a few other pumpkin ales I have tried in the past weeks.a little sharp and it's a little lighter in the mouth.I really liked the spiced but not overly sweet flavors of the beer as a matter of fact it's pretty dry in the finish, cardamom stands out most on the palate. Not bad,one of the better pumpkin ales I have had this season so far.

12 ounce bottle

Pour is dark amber with a gauzy medium tan head, that goes flat to a coating film and collar. leaves well developed low sheeting.

Malty but muted nose with a just a hint of pumpkin pie spicing.

Malty and easy drinking, again just a glimmer of pumpkin flavor and pumpkin pie spice. Does have a deep earthyness, with ripe fruit, raisins, figs and flavorful goodness. Just enough hops in the finish to balance things out.

Nice beer, one of the better "Pumpkin ale" that I've been sampling lately.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a dark brownish ruby with a slightly tanned head. Leaves some nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Darker than most pumpkin beers I've tried.

S: Pumpkin and spice are pretty strong. Combines into a nice pumpkin pie aroma. Fermented fruits bring up the rear.

T: Can see the Ubu ale coming through in the flavor. The malts from that brew are pretty dominate. The pumpkin and spice are in there dont get me wrong. Lots of sweetness going on here giving it a molasses taste. Chocolate from the malts does come through too which is complimentary to the pumpkin.

M: Quite low carbonation, a bit thin of a mouthfeel. A bit sticky upon swallowing.

Overall its a drinkable brew that is a good change of pace from most pumpkin beers. Worth a try as Ubu is tasty in itself and this is appropriate for the season.

- ale brewed with pumpkin and spices.

A: Deep burgundy-brown exit from the bottle. The head needs alot of help to form, walnut colored, thin, skimy, and refuses to hold much. Lacing is non-evident.

S: Lightly toasted pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, pie crust and some dusting of nutmeg. Average strength.

T: Flavor is alcohol forward, at 6.5%. Warming alcohol laced pumpkin, toasted bread, molasses, cinnamon spicing with a caramelized sweetness. Strong cloves, spicy with a hint of warm caramel-apple alcohol finish.

M: syrupy, pretty full bodied, spicy alcohol content, cinnamon warmth and a good rate of carbonation factor.

O: Overall some natural pumpkin content, some spice, and a heaping of alcohol perfect for that chilly october evening camping around the fire pit. Decent balance, not overly spiced, a good thing, more naturally balanced for ease of consumption, with exception of noticeable alcohol which at times seems to distract from the pumpkin element. Really like the pumpkin flavor and how things are more natural and in harmony then forced spicing.

Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass from a bottle. Deep mahogany but clear in color with a light tan head of a couple fingers that leaves lacing down the glass.

Smells of dark fruits: plums, raisins, prunes. A hint of cinnamon in the background.

Taste starts off sweet with an mildly acidic roasty bite. Opens up into dark fruits: plums, dark cherries, raisins. There's a strong roast backbone all the way through. Finishes with a very strong bitterness that lingers just a bit too long. I'm trying to pick out the spicing, and I think it's there, but very subtle and masked by the roast character.

Mouthfeel is wonderful on this one. This is a beer with a lot of body and a silky smooth mouthfeel.

Overall this is a good beer. Rate it higher if it was an american strong ale, but it's supposed to be a pumpkin beer and I'm barely getting any spice or pumpkin notes.

A: The beer is hazy dark amber orange in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high tan colored head that gradually died down, consistently leaving a short head covering the surface and lots of lacy rings of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pumpkin pie spices are present in the nose—allspice and ginger seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste has initial flavors of allspice and ginger and is followed by notes of pumpkins and cinnamon; the allspice and ginger creep back in again towards the finish. No sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a lot spicier compared to other pumpkin ales so this might be a nice selection of you're looking for a fall beer and don't want something that's very sweet or has lots of pumpkin flavors.

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a dark amber hue withy so finger frothy white head. There was very good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a full earthy caramel with a trace of pumpkin spice.

The taste was likewise malt driven, with some burnt caramel and a slight allspice.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a weak attempt at a pumpkin ale. Ubu with some extras thrown in. I think we deserve a bit more imagination.

Does anyone even like pumpkins. It should be pumpkin spice beer because that is what most are.
This one the spices wern't that bad. Sutle hints of cinammon and nutmeg.
When our family goes to Lake Placid for vacation UBU is one beer that I look for. On this brew they just through in some spices.
A metallic aftertaste lingers along time.

as distinct from the normal pumpkin ale, this is a doctored up version of their flagship ubu. it has pumpkins and fall spices from ginger to cinnamon and allspice, and I really like what it does to ubu. a little lighter color than ubu itself, with a Halloweeny orange glow and an inch of off white bubbles. the nose is perhaps a tad overly spiced, more spice than squash, which I guess is true of most pumpkin bees these days. fuller malt body and sweetness too. the flavor is also spice heavy, not brutally so, but more than I like. wish I could get more pumpkin directly, but I do like the way the bold flavors of ubu come through this, which I always thought was a perfect fall beer anyways. full bodied and dangerous, you can catch quite a buzz putting these back. overall a little robust on the spice front, but a great beer overall. all the better at for free at the brewery after a miracle pool come from behind victory!
