Unfortunately our waitress was new so our experience might have been different had she known the menu and the beers.

We thought it opened at 11 and they didn't actually open until noon. The doors were open but they wouldn't let us sit at a table until 12:00 on the nose. Whatever, not really a big deal but we had to wait in our cars because it was raining.

The food was good and we got served relatively quickly. Great pub food. My major complaint is the variety of beers. They only have 6 on tap, 4 of which are the regulars. I would have like to see a lot more variety.

I'd go back if I was in Lake Placid again because there isn't much else there, but it isn't a destination in and of itself.

Popped by last week. Location is great. Right on the lake a couple minutes from Main Street. Atmosphere was that of an old Adirondacks bar. A little dark, very lodge like. They had about ten beers on tap, most of which were quite good. I give them credit for a lot of different styles as well, just not knocking you over the head with a bunch of ipas and stouts. As for food, it was reasonably priced bar fare, maybe half a step up from a regular bar. Not bad, not great. I had a Vietnamese beef sandwich and the chorizo nachos. Worth a stop if you are in the area if not for the location alone, but we only opted to hit it once.

This place is about what you would expect if you've been to a few breweries in the Adirondacks. The location is just a few minutes walk from the Main Street of Lake Placid, and the building is an old house/church/ whatever that looks neater on the outside than it is on the inside. The second floor dining room that we ate in was decorated with pennants from every college sports team you could imagine, which really doesn't do much for me but whatever. The beer selection was limited to about six house brews that ranged from mediocre to actively bad. The food was ok but not much more than that. Worth a visit if you are looking to tick some local beers, but I wouldn't eat here again, and if you just want to drink a good beer you may want to look elsewhere.

It gets packed but for obvious reasons. Good eats and brews. Try going early otherwise you're going to have to wait.

newly redone, in the last few years at least, the whole area here is really booming. basement level is a pub style, few booths, big wooden bar, pool table, juke box, dim lighting, mix of people from everywhere but lake placid, its a cool vibe, high energy and exciting in here. upstairs is the restaurant and brew house, nice atmosphere there too, and the food is always good, especially the wings. five or six beers going at all times, with a seasonal, a brew house only beer, and the regular lineup we all know and love. service at the bar is always slow because its always so busy, but ive never had any issues while eating with poor service at all. I really like their ipa, one of the beers that turned me on to craft, so its nice to get it fresh. they are also doing some experimental hop stuff, which is always welcomed. it gets a little loud and a little hot in the basement there, but its a place worth visiting, especially on Tuesday when you get two for one pints! cool place to meet people from all over too.

In the quaint village of Lake Placid, nestled high in New York’s mighty Adirondack Mountains, are two fine purveyors of craft brew; one is the Adirondack Brewing Company (see my review for the Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood Company), the other is this one.

Situated apart from the Main Street bustle of summer tourists and winter ski bums, Lake Placid Brewing is housed in an appropriately rustic two-story structure, with the brewpub being upstairs. The room is pleasant enough – though, it does evoke a fratboy-cum-sportsbar atmosphere (what with the numerous college pennants decorating the walls.) In the middle is the bar, square-shaped with limited space to plant one’s ass. There is a smattering of high tops and tables scattered arbitrarily about the place – with plenty of room for the ever rushing servers. LPCB offers conviviality to local and tourist alike.

Of course, we were here for the beer and there was a decent selection of the house brew here including several IPAs; however the primary beer was the UBU Ale, a smooth and delicate English Strong Ale that comes off more like a Scotch Ale than anything else – perhaps, it is a British Strong Ale? After several pleasant pints, my friend and I, the former having brought me here in conjunction with a business trip to nearby Saranac Lake, grabbed a growler of UBU and made our way down the mountain to home.

While not much of a skier, or a tourist addicted to quaint, but crowded, mountain villages, I can see myself returning here. After all, Lake Placid is the home of two Winter Olympic Games, the most recent being in 1980 when our hockey team defeated the USSR. Now, Lake Placid is home to UBU Ale. Do you believe in miracles?

Came to Lake Placid in May before tourist season and decided we would try out the local brew. Hung out at the bar for a couple hours with some of the locals. Very friendly people. Got a sampler of beer, and it was actually very good, and even was served on a neat wooden paddle. Came back the next day for lunch and the food was pretty good too. The building itself really is quite nice, with the large stained glass window in the front, and the two levels of bars and patios. I've always liked upstate New York, and if I ever lived in the US, it would probably be around here and this would certainly be my watering hole.

This is a nice place to get a beer and some food in Lake Placid. I can't imagine anyone going and being dissapointed. The most important thing for people to realize about going here is that the beer served on tap bears little resemblence to the beer you buy from them in the store. The local draft brews are MUCH better! If you've never been impressed by the bottles, give it a try.

A very casual bar downstairs and dining room upstairs. Laid back and relaxed with a few tourists mingling with the locals. Friendly vibe, nice bartender. The beers are pretty good but nothing is exceptional. They offer flights and pints are pretty decent prices and there are growlers in the fridge to go as well as some mixed 6 and 12 packs.

Food was standard pub far but yummy. Had a steak sandwich that was well made and tasty for 10 bucks with steak fries.

Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the Lake Placid area. Not exactly a must-see beer destination but a solid place if you're close. Very different from the town's other brewpub - Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood, which is costlier and a little nicer in both decor and menu. Beers are kind of a wash between the two places in my experience.

Check it out, it's a nice place to spend an hour or two, particularly on a quiet fall afternoon like the one I had recently. Might be a little nutty during the height of ski season.

The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery is a must stop for me every summer vacation. Each time, we are not disappointed. Side note: the beer at the Pub is MUCH BETTER than their bottlings. Before you say, "no duh", it's because LPB outsources their bottlings. They somewhat recently switched from a place in Plattsburgh to a place in Utica (Saranac). The difference is palatable and quite noticable. Saranac isn't doing this place any justice with the bottling operation. The beer at the pub is rock solid and delicious. The bottles, eh, not so much.

After a long day of skiing and a short stop at the other brewpub in town, I came to Lake Placid planning to have dinner and as many beers as I could handle. It turns out I was too tired to handle many beers, but that didn't change the fact that I really enjoyed this place. It is just a block of main street lake placid, and pretty easy to find.

There is an upstairs and the downstairs. Both serve the exact same beer. The upstairs is a restaurant and bar, while apparently the downstairs is just a bar. The downstairs is open late, 2am on this Thursday, while the upstairs closed about 10. I called ahead to learn all of this stuff, and the man who answered the phone was helpful and forthcoming with as much information as I would need. Good start.

The thin, U-shaped bar is in the center, and directly in front of you when you walk in. It has a high ceiling that leads to a skylight above it (I think anyway). The walls are adorned with wood and various sports memorabilia, with lots of stuff from NY state colleges. Tables are on both sides of the bar, although the area on the right is fairly small. It does, however, include a fireplace. There is a chalkboard above the bar with about 10 beers on it, each of which is a house beer. There is the regular line-up that can be found in bottles throughout NY (including UBU), along with a few other seasonal and specialties.

It was late evening when I walked in, and the place was fairly full. I grabbed one of a few seats at the bar and got a beer quickly. After about 10 minutes of sitting, the place became packed around me. All the tables were full, all the seats at the bar were full, a few people were standing, people were waiting for tables downstairs. Despite the crowd the bartender was attentive, and as friendly as she had time to be. The patrons around me were other tourists, but fairly friendly.

The beer is impressive. I have tried their entire standard line-up with good results, giving me the impression that this is a solid brewery. Tonight I got to try a few things that are not bottled and I really liked them. Twice-Bitten Barleywine is a great example of a hoppy barleywine.

For a late dinner I had the spicy buffalo fish and chips. It was standard fried fish and chips for about 9 bucks, which is fine. The beer was 3.50 or 4 a pint, which is also solid.

Overall the atmosphere was busy and lively, the prices were fair, and the beer was quite good. I would have stayed all night to try everything that is on-tap, but having gotten up around 3am to get here and ski all day, I didn't have a lot of desire to do anything except go to bed after finishing dinner and my last beer.

On my next visit I will spend a good chunk of my night here and try everything on-tap that is new to me. I will probably check out the downstairs also. If you're in Lake Placid and looking for a beer-related evening, this is the first place you should stop.
