This place is about what you would expect if you've been to a few breweries in the Adirondacks. The location is just a few minutes walk from the Main Street of Lake Placid, and the building is an old house/church/ whatever that looks neater on the outside than it is on the inside. The second floor dining room that we ate in was decorated with pennants from every college sports team you could imagine, which really doesn't do much for me but whatever. The beer selection was limited to about six house brews that ranged from mediocre to actively bad. The food was ok but not much more than that. Worth a visit if you are looking to tick some local beers, but I wouldn't eat here again, and if you just want to drink a good beer you may want to look elsewhere. (766 characters)

It gets packed but for obvious reasons. Good eats and brews. Try going early otherwise you're going to have to wait. (117 characters)

newly redone, in the last few years at least, the whole area here is really booming. basement level is a pub style, few booths, big wooden bar, pool table, juke box, dim lighting, mix of people from everywhere but lake placid, its a cool vibe. upstairs is the restaurant and brew house, nice atmosphere there too, and the food is always good, especially the wings. five or six beers going at all times, with a seasonal, a brewhouse only beer, and the regular lineup. service at the bar is always slow because its always so busy, but ive never had any issues while eating with poor service at all. I really like their ipa, one of the beers that turned me on to craft, so its nice to get it fresh. they are also doing some experimental hop stuff, which is always welcomed. it gets a little loud and a little hot in the basement there, but its a place worth visiting, especially on Tuesday when you get two for one pints! (918 characters)

In the quaint village of Lake Placid, nestled high in New York’s mighty Adirondack Mountains, are two fine purveyors of craft brew; one is the Adirondack Brewing Company (see my review for the Great Adirondack Steak and Seafood Company), the other is this one.

Situated apart from the Main Street bustle of summer tourists and winter ski bums, Lake Placid Brewing is housed in an appropriately rustic two-story structure, with the brewpub being upstairs. The room is pleasant enough – though, it does evoke a fratboy-cum-sportsbar atmosphere (what with the numerous college pennants decorating the walls.) In the middle is the bar, square-shaped with limited space to plant one’s ass. There is a smattering of high tops and tables scattered arbitrarily about the place – with plenty of room for the ever rushing servers. LPCB offers conviviality to local and tourist alike.

Of course, we were here for the beer and there was a decent selection of the house brew here including several IPAs; however the primary beer was the UBU Ale, a smooth and delicate English Strong Ale that comes off more like a Scotch Ale than anything else – perhaps, it is a British Strong Ale? After several pleasant pints, my friend and I, the former having brought me here in conjunction with a business trip to nearby Saranac Lake, grabbed a growler of UBU and made our way down the mountain to home.

While not much of a skier, or a tourist addicted to quaint, but crowded, mountain villages, I can see myself returning here. After all, Lake Placid is the home of two Winter Olympic Games, the most recent being in 1980 when our hockey team defeated the USSR. Now, Lake Placid is home to UBU Ale. Do you believe in miracles? (1,717 characters)

Came to Lake Placid in May before tourist season and decided we would try out the local brew. Hung out at the bar for a couple hours with some of the locals. Very friendly people. Got a sampler of beer, and it was actually very good, and even was served on a neat wooden paddle. Came back the next day for lunch and the food was pretty good too. The building itself really is quite nice, with the large stained glass window in the front, and the two levels of bars and patios. I've always liked upstate New York, and if I ever lived in the US, it would probably be around here and this would certainly be my watering hole. (622 characters)
