Dark brown color with lots of thick beige head with long retention and leaving laces.
Strong aroma of coffee and dark chocolate from its toasted malts.
Taste follows nose, clear coffee and dark chocolate notes. Dry and bitter aftertaste with its long lasting residual taste.
Light body with good carbonation with tiny bubbles.
Worth trying, it has quite clear notes of coffee without any addition, and more than other beers so called Coffee Porters.

Serving type: on-tap at Bogotá Beer Company brewpub in Bogotá.

A: deep reddish-brown color, nice light tan creamy head that dissipates within the first few minutes, though this could be chalked up to 8,600 feet.

S: deeply roasted, hint of coffee, slightly musty aroma, too.

T: medium bodied, deep toasted chocolate malts, biscuity taste though not a heavy porter by any means.

M: crisp, a bit harsh roasted note on the end.

O: Very enjoyable English-style porter with a heavy roasted profile. Great find in South America.

A: Medium to light brown – a touch red – a sort of burnt umber. Quite clear. Fair size light tan head that gradually recedes over a few moments to a nice skim that retains well. Leaves some decent lacing.

S: Roasty & toasty porter goodness with a hint of coffee and a good malt background. Some fruity esters. Good hint of herbal & earthy hops with some muted citrus mixes with lingering soft malt sweetness. Not as robust smelling as some porters, but it is to style. Good strength & pretty inviting.

T: Dry roasty all the way through. Cocoa with a hint of coffee. Not as dry and roasty as an Irish Stout, but it does have a bit of that impression rather than a Porter richness. Broad & deep toasty malt base with a touch of sweetness. Quite firmly matching hop bitterness with a very English character – grassy & herbal with a touch of muddled citrus and an earthy hint arriving late. Roast and hops linger together for a long time in the finish.

M: Medium body with carbonation just a bit more than a hair over-balanced. Ghost hint of sugars, a few chewy dextrins, and some hop tannins. Goes pretty drying with a big push from roast and an assist from hops.

D: A nice Brown Porter. Or maybe you could call it a hoppy and robustly & darkly flavorful English-style midlands brown. Super balanced with a nice interplay between the roast and the hops. Roast and mouthfeel (body is litter and relatively under-matched to carbonation) make this one both cleansing and lasting. Would pair well with food or be good for a few on its own. With a game of darts preferably. A well done version of a less common sub-style. And very tasty and drinkable.

It smells like dark chocolate. It looks like black coffee. The Lace was thin and the short head looked like a soft blanket - very thick and creamy. The taste has a roasted coffee feel, reminding me of dark chocolate-covered coffee beans, leaving behind a very slight bitter that reminds me that I'm drinking a beer. I enjoy drinking this beer at home instead of at BBC. It deserves a peaceful environment and is great for a couple of pints, but loses its impact after a couple. It is by far my favorite of BBC's regular brews - Good Job, BBC.

Sessioned many of these the other night at the BBC Andino along with a few Monserrate Rojas in between. This beer arrived in an imperial pint with a nice tan head to the top of the glass. Smell is malty but with a good hop background. Taste is great. Very silky smooth mouthfeel. Roasted malts but definitely enough hopping to provide a balance to this porter. Of all beers served at BBC, this is by far my favorite. Tastes strikingly like my last homebrew porter, and that's a great thing!

After several weeks of ordering this beer on a daily basis, i've decided to review it again. It pours a very dark brown/black and rather turbulent tone with a small but very thick, creamy tan head. The smell gives off an intense fruityness alongside some chocolate aromas and a roasted feel. The taste, a mixture of flavours, starts of with some carbonation, and roasted coffee with much of the fruityness, alongside a softer perception of the chocolate at the end which accompanies a very strong bitterness which however blends in in a very nice way. The mouthfeel is not bad at all but perhaps this isn't a one-after-another sort of beer, however, it is very enjoyable for a couple of pints due to its great amount of different flavours present.
