While this is not the best of the BBC, it is a close second. and it is a noteworthy indulgence into the american styles by the folks over there (namely owner Berny Silberwasser), pulling off an impeccable IPA that can stand up to any DFH or Brooklyn or whatnot.

Brewed essentially for the 4th of july, something of a tribute to american independence in all things including beer. this beer has a story in itself even before it was done!

Pour ranges somewhat from dark golden to an orange hue. not excessively active but does have a marvellous creamy white head, very lasting and thick, turning porous slowly and eventually dissolving into a thin film and substantial lacing.

Smell might well be the best part. and in itself pioneers in the use of aromatic hops in colombia, giving off a fantastic piney odor even without diving the nose in. significantly bitter nonetheless, but with a very very subtle malty sweetness and alcohol perceivable underlying the very intense hops.

The taste is comparable perhaps to a 90min IPA or something. right off a very smooth sweet metallic feel razed by the overpowering of its many IBUs (i believe somewhere around 90 as berny told me), with a grassy but very bitter and somewhat ash-like feel of the hops. alcohol is nowhere to be felt, really, only a subtle pungency somewhere floating among the many other flavours.

The body too is somewhat oily, making for not only a top flavoured but also a full bodied experience, while remaining rather smooth and refreshing.

And in my endless praise for the BBC (uninterested, unbiased and unsponsored), i can only say- they've done it again!

Amber color with two fingers of consistent head with good retention.
Nice aroma of passion fruit and perfume.
Flavor continues in an upward trend, bold in its caramel malt and floral and fruity hops. Notes of grapefruit. Quite dry and bitter aftertaste given its 90 IBUs.
Very well balanced and executed and not weak as some BBC beers. Approved by a hop head.
Major improvement in every sense from last time I drank it, now I could feel its 90 IBUs. Now more to an American rather than to an English IPA as stated by the brewery.

This didn't taste as good as the first time I had it...perhaps because it was warmer out....I dont know. The beer poured a nice clear copper with 1/2 finger thick head that left some lacing. The smell had bitter hops and sweet male. The taste was dominated by the sweet malt, then the aftertaste was very bitter. Im not sure if this beet is balanced very well. The mouthfeel is a medium body with smooth carbonation. Overall I am glad to have tried it for the second time, but there are better offerings in the BBC arsonal that I would lean towards.
