This is a light wheat brew flavored with coriander and orange, and brewed with Belgian yeast. So that's a Witbier by definition. Lemony scent.

Tangy with a winey sensation. The dry yeast takes over the aftertaste. increasingly cloudy on the third pour. The last glass is even yeastier and murkier. Bitter herbal aftertaste. Frothy in the glass.

This is pretty much a textbook Wit with some pleasant malty taste, but it's pretty strong with citrus peel and bitterness. From the 750 ml swingtop purchased at New Seasons Market in Portland.

Found this at Barbur World Foods in Portland. This is not a style I see many small breweries attempt, especially in the NW, so I couldn't resist. I'm a sucker for the uncommon and overlooked.

THE APPEARANCE of Rebecca's Divine Wit is textbook white wheat beer. Basically, perfect. The biggest, an oddest, flaw is the incredible amount of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. It's almost disgusting, but still quite impressive. This looks like a home brewer's concoction, which is about as close to real thing as it gets. I love it!

THE SMELL is a mix between a Belgian sour and a hefeweizen. More sour than most wheats, but a very nice aroma. Grass, oranges, vinegar, lemon, and cinnamon are all in there.

THE TASTE is nearly a perfect representation of a good white wheat ale, in my opinion. The spice is mild enough to be able to taste all the grainy wheat qualities, and present enough to liven up this beer a little. "Rebecca's Divine Wit" is rather sour which might shock some used to the sweet, candyness of Blue Moon, but I enjoy it very much as it's a more raw, in your face representation of the style.

THE FEEL is surprisingly heavy and smooth for a wheat. Most wheats I've had--Belgian or American--are much more effervescent than this, but the low carbonation does not detract from it. Very tangy on the tongue.

CONCLUSION: This is hands down the best white wheat I've had and was an astronomical improvement for Porches when compared to their Invasive Species IPA--the last brew of their's I had. Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for this one but was pleasantly surprised. This is not a polished, big-budget beer so if you're expecting that ultra refined, crispness then this is not the beer for you. If you want something that tastes like your homie made if for you, this is the one! Well done, fellas!

At the CBP trailer, 33th/Division PDX, $4 a pint, poured into mason jar, 9.9.11.

One finger off-white creamy head, cloudy orange/yellow body, no visible carbonation due to murkiness. Not a lot going on in the nose, mild wit profile, hard to pick up any significant hop aromas. Taste is orange peel sweetness balanced by coriander, floral hops. Mouthfeel is medium, good effervescence, got more bitter as it warmed. Quite drinkable, though lacking aroma-wise.

Snagged a bottle of this at the beermongers... and my roomie gave some to the cable guy hooking up the box's...

I also tried this before its release... Dylan hooked me up with a swig when I hit up the place in St. Helens a couple months back while bottles were conditioning.

- Very light cloudy straw yellow... light dusting of fizz... bubbly ring...

- Bready... wheat, roasty grain... slight banana.. yeast... citrus and floral.... slightly herbal and grassy... very pleasant.

- Wow... a fantastic blend of flavors... crisp... wheaty, citrus, and zing hops.... slight zest with a floral earthy grassiness... very impressed... a great wit....

- Thin bodied... slightly drying... mouth watering....

- Huge win for Captured by Porches... this brew tastes of amazing. Very well balanced, and a great character. I hope this becomes a regular, and remains consistent.
