Fairly clear amber color, good initial head, though it falls quickly. Aroma is very banana-ish, no lambic-specific tartness detectable. On first taste... Banana flavor hits you smack in the face like a sack of, er, bananas. Overwhelming, very sweet, bananas. Only slightly acidic, with lambic character not much in evidence. Nice amount of carbonation, with a light, tingly mouthfeel.

I'm a huge fan of lambics, but this beer holds none of the delights that draw me toward the style. Bleagh, not recommended unless you're crazy about banana.

Poured into a glass, it has an appealing caramel color and no head, just a few white bubbles on top.

It smelled unpleasantly chemical to my nose--very artificial banana flavoring--and that's also what I got from the taste. Weirdly artificial, tangy, metallic, almost a waxy mouthfeel.

I'm generally a fan of the lambic style, but this was not a good example of that style to my tongue. Wouldn't drink again.

Okay for what it is - a summer patio beer spritzer. Completely ginger ale-like in its manner from its appearance to its mouthfeel. Candy-like banana nose, sweet soda pop tatse and mouthfeel. Just a short bottle, but becomes cloyingly sweet as you go. Girly-beer.

375ml corked and capped bottle (i hate that) picked up as an impulse buy. drank out of my duvel tulip.

A- this beer pours out a bright yellow colored body with a finger and a half of bright white head. the head fades fast and leaves behind small spots of lacing.

S- as expected, this smells strongly of banana. a very weird odor to be coming out of a glass of beer. very sweet smelling. a slightly earthy scent as well.

T- overly sweet and somehow artificial tasting banana, and lots of it. think banana popsicle. very lightly tart. slight earthy funk.

M- light bodied with a high level of carbonation.

D- i wont be picking this up again. more of a novelty than anything. i guess check it out if you LOVE bananas.

I've been sitting on a bunch of reviews, waiting to drink something really cool to put in for my 400th on BA. However, since it hasn't happened in the last few weeks and I'm racking up the untyped reviews, I decided to go ahead and review something really crappy and weird for my 400th instead. So here it is - #400!

Purchased a 250mL bottle of this odd little beer from the LCBO. Poured an ugly, muddy brown into a white wine glass - reminds me of rotten fruit, which is not a good thing for a fruit beer. Decent-sized white head, and lots of lacing. Aroma is mild banana, some bubblegum or other artificial sugary flavours, and a hint of sourness. The sourness comes out a lot more in the flavour, "balanced" by icky medicinal banana flavours and overripe fruits. Above-average carbonation and fairly light body. Sugary sweet candy aftertaste. I finished this, but just barely - would not buy again.

LCBO bottle tasting-Pours sparkling light yellow with a thin fizzy white head that diminishes quickly. Funky banana aroma, barnyard, mixed tropical fruits and a touch of yeast. The flavour profile is pretty sweet banana, with some other fruity components, sugary syrup, yeasty funk and a touch of hoppy sharpness. FInishes fizzy and acidic, sweet as hell. One per week is my max.

Clear yeller with a bubbly white cap. Fair retention for a lambic. You don't see banana lambics around these parts too often.

Smells like banana runts and off-putting wet paint. Sweeter than I anticipated. Really, really, really sweet overripe bananas. More lambic-y funk or sour to combat the excessive sweetness is in order.

When I bought this I figured it would be either really good or really bad. I'm leaning towards the latter but I had to try it.

"Ingredients: Beer, bananas, sugar, flavor".

I wish they were more specific about 'flavor'. Artificial flavor? Natural flavor?

Anyways, this plambic pours a pale light copper with a frothy smallish head and a few streaks of lace. The aroma is full of sweet banana flavor extract with a banana bread feel. Some green banana notes are also noticeable. The taste follows suit with lots of banana flavors, though not really natural tasting. The finish has some Runt candy flavor (the banana ones of course) and a slight ascerbic acid tartness. The mouthfeel is not light, it has a coating sweetness.

This is pretty much an alcopop. It lacks pretty much any beer or lambic flavor, except for a faint tatness. Pass.

Purchased single bottle for $6.95 from tiny liquor store at corner of Devonshiire and State.

Appearance = clear, bubbily, highly carbonated golden peach. big white fluffy head that dissipates quickly.

Smell = Pure shot of overpowering banana with some sweetness added in. Can't really smell much else. It smells exactly like banana bread with a tinge of sourness.

Taste = First an explosion of sweetness with a massive overdose of banana. Then an overwhelming bread like, grain like aftertaste. I think the analogy of drinking banana bread is nearly perfect.

Overall = I'm not a huge lambic fan but I do love bananas. I think this is an interesting beer to sample a bit of, but I would not want to drink more than one. It's much too sweet for my tastes and the strong yeast like aftertaste can get annoying. I did enjoy the strong banana flavor though. Mildly recommended for lambic fans.

The nose feels a bit like banana compote of fruit with a slight hint of strawberry. Very sweet, very sweet and bubbly, beer has a strong flavor of the banana in the taste of beer being present. And although the finish is slightly bitter, like the banana peel and the taste of banana blends rather well, the beer is nevertheless aimed at a market of young consumers.

Banana lambic. Hmmm...

Poured into a jelly jar (most of my beer glasses are in storage after a long haul move from DC to San Antonio, TX, so my glassware is limited). Appears a dirty blond color with a light fizzy head. No lace. Very un-Belgian looking. The nose is fruity. Lots of banana, as expected, but also some decent generic lambic scents. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. The taste, however, is where things begin to go south. Way too pungent, it delivers a tart and tangy acid-banana flavor. Not exactly tasty. It could be worse, I suppose, but this would be a lot better off if it were a bit more subtle. Mouthfeel is okay, but everything is offset by the strength of the taste.

Chapeau Banana is not the worst beer I've ever had. But I really like lambics, and this one is just a bit too over the top for me. If the brewery dumbed down the tartness just a bit and made the whole thing a tad less stringent, it might actually work. But as it is, it's just too much to really enjoy.

Chapeau Banana lambic pours out with
minimal head over a golden brew with
considerable suspended chunks. The nose
is sour and vinous and of oak. The flavor is
slightly sweet and tart and is more like cider
than banana. The mouthfeel is round and a
bit syrupy. I'm used to seeing floaties in beer
but for some reason these floaties were a turn
off. Some of them were pretty chunky though.
I won't be revisiting this brew again.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma has some banana notes but there is also some lactic tartness hidden in there. Definitely not as fruity smelling as I expected. The flavor is pretty sweet with a little bit of tartness and some syrupy banana notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Overall, this is not a good lambic. That being said, it isn't offensive and I expected it to be worse.

A- clear straw with tons of floaters, 1/2" tight white head, little retent

S- ripe bananas, yeast, hints of wood

T- high sweetness, lots of banana, aftertaste has some wheat, overall just ridiculously sweet banana, ridiculous cause there's little else

M- high carbonation, light body, soda/juice like

D- way too sweet for me, some tartness would bring this brew a long way, worth w try for fun, but don't expect a miracle

Big thanks goes out to my doppelganger for sharing this one with me at a past tasting! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a bright yellow with a minimal pure white head. There was no lacing evident throughout the glass. The aroma was comrprised of sweet malt, banana, earth, and funk. The flavor was of sweet malt, overly sweet banana, subtle wood, and subtle funk. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this really wasn't that impressive. I had seen this one on the shelf for quite some time and always joked about trying it for the 'tick', but never got around to it. Leave it to my evil doppelganger to make sure I got the chance. And what a chance it was... Phew, this thing tasted like banana laffy taffy with some wood and funk added. WAY too sweet for me with these flavors going on as they didn't balance well at all. Worth trying though to say you have at least once, but drinker beware.

I am drinking this cold in a snifter. The beer pours like fizzy champagne a clear gold color with no sediment. A fizzy bleached white head foams up 1 cm and fades to a surface layer quickly. Aroma is not surprisingly lots of banana at first and some bread notes and definite wet blanket funk come through as the glass breathes.
First sip reveals a lite body and fine fizzy carbonation that is prickly on my palate. Flavor is sweet and tangy banana and also some general tart fruit notes. The beer is generally sweet and sticky and reminds me of fizzy fruit juice. Not a favorite or one I would return to, but a beer experience nonetheless.

Bottle

decants with a decent hazed yelloe lambic..fair cap..good lace

Aroma; yup wet horse blsamket but the fruity notes of banana are synthetic and perfumey...spoils it

Tate is ok but the sugar and banana concentrate added kind of screw it...underneath is a decent lambic....pity the fruit flavoring wasn’t more real and less sweet.

Poured a deep yellow with a soft and bubbly head. The lacing was pretty good, I had this out of a wine glass.

Smell: Pure banana and very sweet. Not in any way spiced or resembling the kind of hefeweizen banana aroma but much more sweet smelling

Taste: Quite one dimensional with no real complexity but I don't think that was the brewer's aim here. This is pure banana and not far from what I think a banana soda might taste like.

Mouthfeel: This is maybe the best feature of the beer, and its saving grace. Medium bodied with a crisp but medium carbonation
