Oude Gueuze Cuvee - bb date 5/20/26 so assuming this was bottled 5/20/21. 5 year bb on these? Slightly darker appearance that typical gueuze, clean but mild nose. Very lemon forward for taste, lots of lemon pith. Drinks smooth and clean but gets much more tart after warming

37,5 cl. corked bottle from Más que cervezas, served at home in a flute glass.
Hazy golden colour, short head that reduces to a thin layer that lingers on. Creamy lacing.
Aroma is funky, barnyard, citrics, grapes, wood, white wine.
Medium body, thick texture, average carbonation. Acid finish.
Taste follows the aroma.
Exceptional.

Great funky and slightly grassy nose, flavor opens up with bright lemon zest and funk in the middle with a green apple and pear finish although the lemon is predominant. Lots of notes that remind me of white wine. The acidity is there but again another classic example of age benefitting and softening the acidity in a beer. Overall while the flavors are still melding together the acidity is balanced out and no longer as sharp. Would age again (& maybe longer)!

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at 40 degrees F, and allowed to warm during consumption.

L: Pours a lovely cloudy-opaque amber-gold, and forms a short-lived head of fizzy white foam.

S: Starts to hit as the bottle is opened, with funk leaping out of the opening. As the head is fizzing away, the nose reaches quite some distance from the glass. Old musty room, sour melon, pollen haze, bitter underripe orange, wet straw.

T: Sour melon and bitter orange hit right up front, with musty mildew and wet straw hanging in the backdrop. Midway along the palate, tart citrus intensifies alongside the melon, into a melange of orange, lemon, sour cantaloupe, and honeydew. The finish lingers as a persistent orange-lemon, with a sheen of wet straw and musty book covers.

F: Fairly light, and not particularly lively, nigh still.

O: A tasty, layered gueuze. Quite enjoyable.

Dual pour... first is all head and good, second all flat and...
Deep gold colour with or without head... !
As a comparison, less tart/sour than most, just a hint of candi sugar sweetness to offset usual lambic sweetness.
Nice to have had more carbonation overall...
Solid overall but not outstanding...would not buy on its own co pared to Usual Suspects (!)

2014 vintage. Delicious green apple and acidic lemon notes. Strong carbonation a d great texture, juicy upfront and dry on the finish. Super yummy!

Had several 37,5cl bottles. All the same.
No carbonation, corky smell.
Taste was do-able, very tart in comparison to most.
But it was too flat for a good geuze.
Mouthfeel like lambiek.

2014 bottle in 2020. Nose is excellent, funky and complex, good stuff. Flavor is not good - tart green apple dominates. Medium carb, medium light body. I wish this were better.
