A neighborhood favorite, Fatty's is a place you don't want to miss. In fact, it's difficult to pass by without going in! They're located right next door to Crescent & Vine (same owners), but the vibe is quite different. Fatty's is more like the college roommate who made you stay up all night partying instead of studying for the big test.

They have a solid selection of bottles (no draft) and, if that weren't enough, the best cuban sandwich this side of Havana. The owners are frequently there, and they go above and beyond in making you feel at home.

The place is very colorful, with a latin flair, and the food is exquisite. I mentioned the cuban before, but there are many wonderful items on the menu. And, if I can get off the topic of beer for just a sec, they make a damn good mojito too.

If all this still isn't enough to coax you in, I haven't even mentioned the back patio yet! There's nothing better than relaxing with a cold brew and some tasty grub on a warm day, and I can't think of a better place to do it than at Fatty's.

Astoria Queens. Just down the road from laguardia airport. Funky little spot serving
"American food with a Caribbean twist" Also about twenty worthy bottles, no taps. About a dozen smaller tables and a sparse Light wood bar as you enter. Pleasant enough with larger windows looking onto the mellow queens street scene. Friendly young lady behind the bar and mellow modern music playing. Made for a pleasant stop for a bite and fresh tasting Green Flash west coast IPA before making my airport pickup. Definitely worth checking out if you are local or find yourself in the area
