this is a great beer, and a very clever one, perfect as an afterdinner drink, or probably sensational as an early morning brew. pours a midnight black color, with a half inch of light brown froth on top. its got an aroma of vanilla, chai tea, and cocoa powder. the flavor is a little dusty, powdered. there is dry bitter cocoa, sweet chai, and of course the roast malt from a very big stout to begin with in terms of depth and also body. the flavor is really settling in the stomach after a big meal here. feel is nice and smooth, thick and heavy though, and also not sweet as i expected. rather a pretty dry stout, more irish in feel than anything, and very well spiced. its not too much, not too little. carbonation is relaxed, but one of these was enough for me last night. overall creative brew and great food always at yak and yeti. (837 characters)

Served cold in a hefty glass mug as the Yak & Yeti.

This stout is nearly black in color with a 1/4" of off-white head.

At first, the aroma seems like a typical milk stout: slightly sweet, slightly roasty. Sniff a little closer and you get the chai spices of clove and cinnamon.

Flavor is also mostly sweet with elements of milk chocolate and mocha. The spices come through a little stronger here but seems very well judged. Not too strong, not too slight.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. Good balance too.

Overall a great beer as I've come to expect at the Yak & Yeti. (591 characters)

Poured into a standard pint glass from a growler.

Look: The beer is a midnight black with a cola brown on the edges in the light. A light cream colored head recedes to nothing but bubbles around the edges and maybe an odd group in the center.

Smell: The beer smells of Chai tea spices, cinnamon, dark roasted malts, and mint.

Taste: The bitter, dark roasted malts come first, but then an amazing acute Chai tea washes over the palate, lie no other stout I've had. The cinnamon and other chai spices (ginger?) are nicely balanced with the rest of the beer. The finish is bittersweet, and the longer I drink it, the more chocolate mint emerges.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, slightly dry.

Overall: Perhaps the most interesting beer I've ever had. The perfect balance between chai spice and chocolate, yet dry enough to not be a cloying dessert affair. Oh, and an excellent establishment too, the Yak and Yeti .... (915 characters)

Black body with a thin tan head.

Aromas of cardammom, ginger, and roasty chocolate malt.

The flavors are cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, dark chocolate, and espresso and they work amazingly well together. Who knew chai and stout would be such a great combo, but they play well off one another. Seems like a milk stout may have been the base beer.

Each sip makes me want to try another, so that's good. Medium body is round and smooth on the palate.

Great beer that goes great with my dessert. (500 characters)

A: Pours a dense black color with a nice finger or two of dark brown foam.

S: Big time dark chocolate aroma to this with lots of intense roasted malt and coffee aromas. There's a big oak aroma with a hint of vanilla. A touch of bourbon but plenty of charred oak.

T: Burnt and charred malt come through right at the beginning. Very heavy on the roast with lots of dark chocolate and coffee as well. Vanilla and a slightly spicy wood flavor. Sort of light on the actual bourbon, though.

M: Quite full in body with a medium, smooth carbonation.

O: A big, bold, intense beer. I was rather surprised to see this on-tap, but certainly won't complain. (648 characters)
