this is a product of the old school and now a largely unremarkable beer, malty yes, but also slightly astringent, and i was left wanting a little more from this, kind of cheap to me a little bit, not their best even though its among their most popular i know. a brick red tone to this, clear enough, frothy headed in the off white range, just a half inch high from the tap but lasting pretty well. it smells nutty, sweet, and a little bit yeasty, certainly grain driven but with some herbal hops on the back end too, light almost northwestern spiciness to it, toffee, lightly metallic even when its cold. the flavor is okay, i get some thinness and even a sharp prickle in it, but the malt is flavorful, kilned and not as sweet as it smells, some minerals underneath the grain but it leans metallic to me, and this does not warm up well. it might benefit from a little more body, or a somewhat cleaner ferment, something is a little off to me in this. still, not bad, a fine mindless drinker, but maybe less so in summer, more of a fall flavor profile with some nuttiness in the grain. just okay overall, nothing special.

This is a Great Amber Ale!!!
Color as it should be.
Not the most powerful aroma but very good indeed.
Taste is what a quality amber ale should be. Nice caramel not too big and not too little.
This is not some beer game beer or chugging beer at a party.
This is for those that enjoy a quality beer.
This is always in stock in my fridge. This is what a grown up beer is.

This a very well done beer. Lots of head, a great caramel and citrusy aroma. The balance between toasted malt and hops in the flavor is great, and the creaminess of this beer is delightful.

Golden red/brown ale. Lower IBU so not bitter. Exactly the way I like them. Will enjoy more of this one.

L - Medium amber. Pretty hazy. Short off-white head; moderate persistence.
S - Malty. Toast, bread, caramel - quite sweet. Not picking up much in the way of hoppiness.
T - Not as unbalanced as the aroma suggested. Sweet bread and toffee malt balanced by spicy hops.
F - Medium.
O - Decent amber - a little bland.

9/17/18 (Milwaukee): $3.18 (Happy Hour Special) 16 oz draft poured into pint glass at Milwaukee Brewing Co. Ale House. Dark amber pour, light off-white head and lacing. No aroma. Nice malt caramel taste. Thin mouth feel, slightly dry, very smooth drinking. Overall OK pour.

On-tap at Rumors Sports Bar & Grill, Sussex, WI
A: The beer is clear amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that left a thin head covering the surface after it died down.
S: Light aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has hints of caramel and toasted malts with hints of spices.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and goes down very quickly but seems to be lighter in body compared to other beers in the style.
Serving type: on-tap

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a fluffy off white head. Smells of dark roasted grain, but very weak. Tastes of caramelized grain with a tad bit of creaminess. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, with good carbonation. Overall, an above average beer.
