12 oz bottle into a goblet.
A: Pours a cloudy amber color. The head stands at a finger high, with a white shade. Typical of the style, it has a creamy texture and unimpressive retention. Tiny amounts of lacing are left on the glass.
S: The nose has elements of a solid hefeweizen...those elements are just watered down. There are some subtle notes of clove, noble hopping, and wheat. I'm not getting much banana - to be fair, I'm not getting much else either.
T: This works a little better. It leans closer to clove than banana, but I can pick up both...barely. There is an okay touch of hoppiness to finish its clove-y profile, at least. The problem isn't that it's bad - it's that its both muddled and weak-tasting. There aren't any defined flavors here, dragging it down to Averageville.
M: Like the flavor profile, it ticks a lot of hefeweizen boxes: well carbonated, somewhat soft from the wheat malt, and dry on the back end. It goes down fairly easily, but a stronger taste would make the feel even better.
O: This is one of my favorite styles, but even taking that into consideration, this beer is merely average at best. It hits all the right notes, just without any discernible standout qualities. A mere shadow next to the German stalwarts, and even a step or two below the best American examples.
